I ended up losing the signal during a conversation.

I received a rather pushy phone call claiming I was eligible for a complimentary lifeline service. They became quite confrontational when I politely turned them down!

Received a call from an unknown number but they didn't bother to leave a voicemail. I tend to avoid picking up calls from numbers I don't recognise.

Like others have mentioned, I've received calls from this number too. The phone buzzes, but upon picking up, there's absolute silence on the other end. I've decided to block it.

I echo the sentiments of many others here. The phone goes off, yet there's absolutely no one at the other end, and before you know it, the call disconnects. It's high time BT reconsidered their policy on regional numbers; they shouldn't be available to anyone outside their geographical area.
