I received a call from someone with a distinct accent, reminiscent of Indian origin, purporting to be from Google’s Internet Security department. This individual claimed that my internet licence was at risk of being compromised and that cybercriminals had taken control of my account for nefarious activities. He insisted that I turn on my computer immediately, among other things. I decided to terminate the call and used 1572 to block the number. To my surprise, he rang back from another line moments later. When I inquired about his working location, he mentioned it was California but failed to provide a specific address. I hung up once more and opted to block that number too. This scenario played out repeatedly with various numbers, such as 01887221495, 01962854353, 01495272877, 01962856666, and 0175291103. It’s quite evident they’ve spoofed a range of numbers, so each time I block one, they simply switch to another.
