they said they were from the telephone preference service, but it was definitely a scam. be careful!

They’ve been ringing me non-stop today, must be about six times already! All sorts of foreign accents on the line, claiming they can put an end to all these pesky calls. Honestly, the irony! The only way to truly solve the issue is for them to just stop calling altogether!
