I got a call from a woman with a British accent, but it was clearly a recording. She claimed to be from Visa Direct and said £600 had been taken from my account in the last 15 minutes for a Western Union "transaction". She told me to press 1 to get “help” stopping it. I hung up straight away and then waited around five minutes before dialing 1471 to check the number that called me. It showed up, so I’m guessing this might be the source of these scam calls. Not sure if all of them come from this number, but the one I just received did.
