I told them if BT wanted to do any upgrades, they should get in touch with me directly. The woman on the other end sounded Asian. Honestly, I’m now waving goodbye to those phone blockers - they’re more hassle than help and pretty worrying. I’m definitely going to report all these numbers to BT.

Today, we got three calls from a bloke with an Asian accent who said his name was Sam. He was telling us that the TPS are stopping their call monitoring service starting tomorrow. Then he tried to sell us a deal to keep the service running if we paid him. We just told him to jog on and wished him well.

Got a ring from this number earlier, and since I’m working remotely, I answered with my company’s name and said, ‘what can I do for you?’ The person on the other side didn’t hang about - they just ended the call straight away! I called them back and barely 2 minutes later they rang again, saying they get why asking for expiry dates sounds dodgy but insisted it was legit. Got a few calls from someone with an Asian accent, rang me three times in about five minutes. I never gave them my name, just asked who they were and where they’d got my number from. They said they were with TPM, offering help with blocking calls, and explained they’d got my details from an old service that had ended. They kept moaning that I was interrupting them - only did that on the third call when they started getting a bit rude. I shouted back that I’d be reporting them to the police and hung up loudly. Haven’t heard from them since!

Got a call from an Asian man who said his name was "Skip" or something similar. Claimed he was with the calling preference service, upgrading their system to cover international numbers. I played along initially. He asked for my name, address, and obviously my phone number. Then he mentioned my phone bill card had expired and asked for the new expiry date. We had a bit of a back-and-forth where he kept insisting that was all he needed, but I just wouldn’t give it. He got pretty annoyed, so I suggested we hang up. He wasn’t happy about that and tried to push on. Bit of a shame really.

When I told him I was gonna report them for scamming, he weirdly started rambling about not being a McDonald's worker or somethin. Ended the call there. Since then, they’ve rung me back like 15 times, only to hang up straight away while I was busy reporting them to TPS and the police using the link on their site. Sorted it now by blocking the number for free through BT’s 1572 service.

Received a rather peculiar call today from someone claiming to be from the telephone preference service. They seemed to know my name and address, which set alarm bells ringing, especially since they were aware I pay my phone bill via direct debit! To top it off, they asked for the expiry date on my Visa card. I promptly questioned the need to reveal such sensitive information, considering that their service is supposed to be complimentary. After checking the number, it turned out to be a UK call from Whatton. I decided it was best to hang up.
