I got a call from a young woman claiming to be with the Telephone Preference Service, saying I was already signed up. She sounded like she might be from India or somewhere in Asia, with a busy call centre noise in the background. She told me she could help block nuisance calls if I bought a device to connect to my phone line. At first, I thought the gadget would be free, but then she mentioned it would cost £69. I refused to give out any bank info over the phone. She tried to say she didn’t need full bank details, just the long number on a bank or credit card. I told her I was about to hang up. Normally, I don’t pick up unknown numbers, but this one had a UK area code for Doncaster, which made me suspicious. Watch out, this seems like a scam to me.
