I received a call from a woman with a strong accent, inquiring about our life insurance policy and pressing to find out if I was receiving any perks from it. To be frank, it came across as rather dodgy to me!

I’m stuck out here in Wisbech (or as we jokingly call it, Wizzy or Wisbeckastan) so I always have to look up numbers to find out if it’s a local firm or something dodgy. Lucky I didn’t pick up this time, definitely not calling back - I’m just blocking it straight away.

Got a woman on the phone claiming she wanted to check if I'd claimed my life insurance benefits. Couple of things wrong there. First, I don’t have any life insurance. Second, she’s calling me, which obviously means I’m still alive so how on earth would I have got any benefits from it? 🤦🏻 Told her to find an actual job instead of trying to scam people.

Got a call from someone saying they work with all the major life insurance firms. When I mentioned my policy, he guessed I must have taken it out before I was even a toddler?! He had no idea how old I actually am, and his guess was way off. Tried to sound legit by dropping my old address, but I moved from there years ago. He also got the name of my insurance company completely wrong. Managed to confuse him a bit until he just told me to buzz off. If he’s meant to be from Aviva, I hope they chuck him out, but it’s obvious he was just a cold-call scammer.

I got a call about life insurance and straight away told her I wasn’t keen. At first, she seemed unsure if I already had a policy, and when I said I did, she suddenly claimed she could hook me up with extra benefits. How does that even make sense if she didn’t know at the start? She kept calling me “love,” which felt a bit off. I tried to end the call politely but she wouldn’t stop pushing. After a minute or so, I firmly said I wasn’t interested and had to go, and she just snapped, “alright, go on then” and slammed the phone down. Proper rude, especially since I was trying to be nice (had telemarketing jobs myself, so I know how to not be a pain)!

She was trying to explain where she was calling from, but before she got into it I cut in with “what cover?” ‘Cause there’s no way it was my bank or car insurance - they’d be straight to the point if it was. After me sayin it a few times, she got proper annoyed and yelled at me to listen. What a numpty.

Got a call trying to sell me insurance. Told them I’m already covered, and suddenly they started swearing at me and calling me names. Proper rude bloke. When I asked who he worked for, he just refused to say and insulted me about life insurance. Classic scam if you ask me.
