I received a call from a woman with a strong accent, inquiring about our life insurance policy and pressing to find out if I was receiving any perks from it. To be frank, it came across as rather dodgy to me!

Regrettably, I'm stuck in Wisbech (or as I like to call it, Wizzy or even Wisbeckastan), which means I often have to hunt online to determine whether a number belongs to a local establishment or something similar. Happy to have dodged the call this time; I certainly won’t be returning it. In fact, that number's going straight on my blocked list!

Got a woman on the phone claiming she wanted to check if I'd claimed my life insurance benefits. Couple of things wrong there. First, I don’t have any life insurance. Second, she’s calling me, which obviously means I’m still alive so how on earth would I have got any benefits from it? 🤦🏻 Told her to find an actual job instead of trying to scam people.

Got a call from someone saying they work with all the major life insurance firms. When I mentioned my policy, he guessed I must have taken it out before I was even a toddler?! He had no idea how old I actually am, and his guess was way off. Tried to sound legit by dropping my old address, but I moved from there years ago. He also got the name of my insurance company completely wrong. Managed to confuse him a bit until he just told me to buzz off. If he’s meant to be from Aviva, I hope they chuck him out, but it’s obvious he was just a cold-call scammer.

Received a call regarding life insurance today. Initially, I expressed my lack of interest, but the caller seemed unaware of whether I held any policy. Once I clarified that I did, she proceeded to say she could assist in securing additional perks. Quite puzzling, don’t you think? If you were uncertain at the outset, how could you offer more benefits? She kept referring to me as ‘love’, which felt rather patronising. I attempted to gracefully exit the conversation, but she was rather persistent. After a minute or so, I firmly stated that I had to decline and needed to end the call. To my surprise, she shouted ‘fine, off you go then!’ before abruptly disconnecting. Quite shocking behaviour, especially since I endeavoured to remain courteous throughout-having worked in customer service myself, I’m mindful not to be the one to ruin someone’s day!

I was certain it wasn’t anything related to my vehicle or banking, as those representatives typically get to the point right away. After her fourth attempt to make her point clear, she snapped at me to pay attention. What a right numpty!

I received a call attempting to push insurance on me, and when I mentioned that I already had a policy, the caller resorted to name-calling and quite a bit of foul language. It felt decidedly dodgy, and when I probed him about his employer, he flat-out refused to share any information, claiming I wasn’t worthy of life insurance. Definitely a red flag!
