No way it's a scam, it’s Calisen who bought out Lowri Beck, ringing about your energy provider. For me, it was just to check the smart meter was getting fitted, which I was already aware of. Calisen fit meters for loads of energy companies, so if they say they’re ‘calling for Octopus’, then that’s legit.

Caller claimed to be from Utility Warehouse, asking for meter readings. I mentioned I’d already given readings at the end of November but didn’t mind sharing them again for both gas and electric. My previous energy company used to have a guy visit once a year for this. He just asked for the last three letters of my postcode and had me confirm the first part of my address. On the 5th of June 23 at about 6.50pm, my mum got a call from this number. The person said he was from her energy company and wanted a meter reading. He was quite polite, and when my mum, who's been poorly lately, said she couldn’t give it because her meter’s outside and she wasn’t feeling up to going out, he said it was fine and that maybe he’d call again next week. This is the second time she’s had a call like this. From what we know, energy companies don’t usually ask for meter readings over the phone.

I had a rather odd phone call from a bloke named Gary, who professed to represent Ecotricity. However, it became clear that he was just trying to dig up details that were none of his business. His questions were all over the place and didn’t add up at all. In the end, he hung up the line as soon as I pointed this out to him.

Received a call this evening around tea time. I picked up and simply said "Hello" since I didn't recognise the calling code. The caller abruptly disconnected, which I found rather odd, especially considering that this area code is quite a distance away-about a four-hour drive from where I am.

Received a call concerning my gas and electricity meter readings - they couldn’t clarify the reason behind the request. They were familiar with my name and mobile number, but then proceeded to ask for my address.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Utility Warehouse asking for my gas and electric meter readings (I don't own a smart meter and don’t want one either). The guy was polite and spoke clearly. He only needed to check my address and postcode, then asked for the meter readings.

I had a chap from Ecotricity, name of Gary, ring me up asking for my meter readings. Then he started waffling on about installing a smart meter. The thing is, they’re not even my energy provider! I told him to take a running jump, but he wouldn’t let up, so I ended the call quite suddenly. Honestly, I’m fed up to the back teeth with these con artists!

Got a call from someone named Gary claiming to be with Shell, asking for my meter reading and to confirm the meter number. I rang Shell myself and they said it wasn’t them. Definately a phishing attempt, best to block the number.

Someone claiming to be from EDF asked for a meter reading. This number didn’t match any EDF contact numbers I could find. I told them I’d submit it through the website instead.

He said he was Gary from Ecotricity. Since they're my supplier, I didn’t think twice at first. He wanted me to provide a meter reading but I told him no as I’ve already submitted readings through the website. Could be a trick to push a smart meter on me, who can tell? I’m gonna ring Ecotricity myself to check what that call was really about.
