Sounds like a genuine outfit to me. They were getting in touch to track down family members of someone who passed away, likely to sort out the will or figure out who might be entitled to the estate. I received a rather concerning message that seemed to pertain to my mother - they even mentioned her name, almost! I responded courteously, assuring them that tracking me down wouldn’t be a problem since I’m easily traceable through legal means. Their reply was rather unsettling, suggesting it's crucial information and implying that my mother has passed away, especially considering I was taken from her custody as a tiny child. It didn’t take long for my instincts to kick in; it all had the whiff of a scam. Surely, if it were as urgent as they claimed, they would have checked the electoral register first, wouldn’t they?
