I've been getting these annoying calls nonstop, it's like they're purposely trying to bother me. Super frustrating!

They rang me like 4 times within just 5 mins saying they were from some trade union trying to organise a party. After I hung up on them the third time, they switched it up and called back asking for the manager. But it was just me again, and the person on the phone was really rude and rushed before suddenly hanging up.

Avoid these lot! They’re just like loads of other firms, taking advantage of folks by pretending to send out adverts but all they do is churn out an online copy. Proper scam if you ask me, not worth the hassle at all.

Hey, Mr xxx, this is Chloe claiming to be from Staff Discounts at Unite - you know, the Union on Victoria Street in Bristol. Don’t worry, she said she’s not trying to sign me up or anything (laughs). Apparently, they’re hunting for someone in my profession to guide their members towards...

But it’s the typical spiel before they hit you up for cash to get your name in their “directory”!

It’s just another cold caller out to sell advertising - a total scam that’s cropping up again. They’re similar to those so-called Emergency Services, Armed Services, Crime Prevention, and Police Child Safety handbooks. A while back, Companies House shut down a bunch of these outfits in the Wigan area - all pushing the same stuff but, as reported, they NEVER actually put anything out there.

Don’t fall for their emotional lines or their ‘special discounts’ if you say yes immediately!

For years now I’ve been getting calls from people claiming they’re with emergency services. Lately, they’ve started ringing again after a bit of quiet. They hit up businesses saying they’ve got a unique chance to advertise directly to emergency service members - like police, firefighters, nurses and such. Usually, what you’re paying for is just a spot on some website or a tiny ad in a free pamphlet. I’m not here to tell you what to do, but this reminded me of a similar pitch I once got. They wanted nearly £500 to put an ad in a brochure by a local company. It turned out the brochure was made by a printing firm that hands out these free brochures, then tries to sell advertising space to local businesses, raking in serious cash and making the original business look bad. Worth being cautious!
