Got a call from 01942314431, turned out to be one of those life insurance scams. Be careful, folks!

Got a call from someone pretending to be from the tax office about some supposed unpaid tax. Funny thing is, they never even bothered to ask my name! So, I asked for a reference number linked to me and, surprise surprise, they couldn’t provide one. Then I wanted a contact name and number to ring back, but all I got was threats about paying immediately or facing arrest (big yawn). I asked how much I supposedly owed because I needed to head to the bank, but they had no clue. Fed up by then, I called them out as a scammer and told them I’d be reporting it to the police.

I got a call from a local number that sounded like it was from some kind of call centre. The guy had an Asian accent and said he was with the 'tax office', claiming I was behind on six months of taxes. I asked him for a reference number, but he couldn’t provide one. Then I requested his name and a number to ring back on, but he kept pushing me to pay immediately or I'd be arrested. When I asked how much I owed, he couldn’t give me a figure or even say his own name, just kept repeating my phone number. I told him he was a scammer and that I’d report his number to the authorities. All he did was keep yelling that I had to pay right away. I could hear loads of other voices in the background, all saying things like that too.
