The questions they throw at you don’t really match up with why they say they’re calling. They keep going on about support from the council for loft insulation, but then suddenly start asking things like how many people live with you, if you’re over 70, and whether anyone will be home the following day. It all feels a bit off to me.

Pardon my language! What a right plonker that was. Some bloke calling himself the efficiency officer for Harlow, all high and mighty. When I asked him “efficiency of what exactly?” he got really snappy. I just hung up on him. It sounded proper official, but his attitude was so pompous - steer well clear of this dodgy scam.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the Efficiency Department at Bury Council. He bombarded me with questions about loft insulation but kept switching up his story, even though he denied it. The whole time, he was pushing for me to agree to a "free" survey by his guy. Definitely a scam, but the bloke was really persistent. I’ve blocked the number now, but it’s a bit worrying they have your name, address, and phone number.

Got a ring from a bloke speaking with a northern twang, claiming he was from the Aylesbury area. He wanted to send someone round to check my loft insulation due to some new government rules. I wasn’t up for it and said I’d ask my neighbour, who does roofing, first. After that, I cut the call off.
