Definitely a scam. Kind of like those old 'boiler room' tricks from a while ago :-( Honestly, every phone call, text, or email like this - they’re all dodgy and should be reported on Action Fraud’s phishing report page. Just follow their steps online and include reporting it to the NFIB if asked. Police do bust these scammers fairly often, sometimes teaming up with cops from other countries, but the trouble is tons of scams go unreported to Action Fraud. That’s why these crooks keep getting away with it.

Funny enough, I’ve worked for a firm fitting gas, oil and solid fuel boilers for over 35 years and this muppet still had the nerve to ask if I needed a new boiler and if I was on benefits. Total scam, or some pushy sales nonsense. Steer well clear of them, if you actually need a boiler then do your own research because their prices are ridiculous.

Somebody called with a strong accent, asking for my partner by her first name. I wasn't sure if she was from Aussie or Kiwi but she definitely didn’t sound local to the 01942 area. This lad said he was handling government funded boiler installs, and I’m actually a gas fitter! Told the guy on the phone from what he called “South Africa” to send my info to the team that does the installations. When I asked if they were based in Wigan, he said “just to the east, in Leigh.”
