9 yearsI've received a couple of calls from this number within just a couple of days. The chap on the other end, who spoke with quite a strong accent, claimed his name was Kevin and that he represented BT. He promptly asked if I was experiencing issues with my internet. When I pressed him for details, he regurgitated the same lines, unmistakably reading from a pre-prepared script. So, I decided to have a bit of fun and told him I was with the police, inquiring about which of our numerous phone and internet lines he was referring to. He quickly hung up without another word!KevinBT9 yearsGot a call with no one on the other end, just pure silence. Bit annoying really.9 yearsJust to let you know, the person a couple of comments down saying Sky never does this - well, I’m with Sky and I still get these calls all the time!IndiaSky9 yearsI picked up when 01941574891 rang but there was no one on the other end of the line.9 yearsIs there a way to entirely block this number so that it can't keep bothering those who receive these pesky scam calls? Cheers, K.J.P.K. J. P9 yearsI got a call saying my internet would be disconnected soon because of some router issues, supposedly from BT. But I told them I don't even use BT, so why would they be calling me? When I asked where they were calling from, they said "Ontario." It felt a bit more sketchy than the normal spam calls and the chat lasted a while, but in the end, they just hung up. The number didn’t show up as anything familiar either.Ontario9 yearsBeing Indian, I had a chat with this caller and got the impression he might be from Pakistan because his accent was unlike ours. We have an account with Virgin, and this guy has phoned us loads of times. Apparently, Virgin’s name is being used by some US media firm that pays Virgin £10 million - used to be called N.T.L. I reckon this company is sharing your personal info. I’ve decided to end my Virgin contract for both phone and TV now. Sky seems more reliable and tends to block these sort of calls. Honestly, Mr Branson, that’s pretty disappointing.PakistanVirginUSSkyBranson9 yearsGot a call from a bloke pretending to be from a London EC1 postcode, said there was some dodgy download activity on my internet line (even though I'm with Virgin, not BT). He told me if I didn't log into my PC right away, my computer ID would be cut off in a couple of hours and I wouldn’t be able to use it anymore. When I started messing about and not taking him seriously, he got pretty rude and angry.London EC1Virgin9 yearsI encountered a dodgy caller claiming to be from BT, insisting they’d been receiving error reports from my laptop. When they requested that I head over to my computer, I realised they must take me for a complete mug and promptly ended the call.BT9 yearsDoes anyone have a clue how to lodge a complaint with BT? Or do they even care about stuff like this? Some bloke called me, said I had to switch on my computer cause someone was trying to get into my account. I said yeah, fine, then just shut it down, left him waiting on the line and went out shopping. Something similar happened before, and I reckon he might have told me to feck off, but his English was so bad I couldn’t tell for sure.BT9 yearsMy mother in law got scammed out of £80 after someone convinced her to let them fix her computer remotely. Thankfully, she doesn’t use it for her online banking! It’s shocking how the police here in the UK and in India, along with BT, don’t crack down on these fraudsters more. Having worked at BT myself, I’m certain they have the means to trace these calls right back to those call centres in India if they worked together with the authorities. They could have the entire operation shut down and those scammers arrested without a problem.BTUKIndia9 yearsThis call was dead quiet and hung up after about 10 seconds. I'm definitely going to block this number now.9 yearsThese people, they never say a word!9 yearsSome bloke rang me saying he was from BT, saying my PC was throwing up errors or something. I told him I wasn’t daft and just ended the call straight away.BT9 yearsSince switching to BT, I've gotten calls like this a bunch of times - never happened when I was with Virgin though. Think Virgin might be selling details of folks who’ve left their service?BTVirgin9 yearsI just heard a beep but no one said anything.9 yearsTotally a rip-off, don’t trust it.9 yearsSomebody rang me up pretending to be from BT, but they had a strong Indian accent and their English was awful. They said someone was using my broadband overseas without permission and that I'd face serious consequences. They asked if I could spare a few minutes to check all the gadgets linked to my connection. Totally dodgy, I steered clear straight away.BTSteer9 yearsI received a call from someone claiming to be from British Telecom wanting to discuss my internet service. Total fraud!British Telecom9 yearsI picked up the phone, yet there was nothing but silence on the other end. Just a few moments later, the caller ended the call without uttering a word.9 yearsReceived a call from a call centre, and to be honest, they didn’t even bother to ask for my name. Just a generic "hello" in response to my greeting. It left me no choice but to end the call abruptly. I'm already registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so this was utterly pointless!Telephone Preference Service9 yearsGot a call from someone saying they were with BT, but the bloke had a heavy Indian accent and his English was awful. He told me my broadband had been misused overseas and I’d be in big trouble. Then asked if I could spare five minutes to check every device linked to my account. Nah, I gave it a miss and dodged that one like the plague.BT9 yearsI answered and there was complete silence for about 10 secs, then suddenly some robotic voice just said 'goodbye'. Total waste of time - definitely some low-budget call centre run by clueless folks. Would not recommend picking up these calls!9 yearsI received a call from this number while I was out and about. A pre-recorded voice informed me that HMRC was pursuing legal action against me and urged me to press 1 to speak with my case officer! What a scam!HMRC9 yearsOne of my elderly family members got a call from this place, and they were guided step-by-step to do things on their computer, which ended up with a virus that completely wrecked it. Today, I got two calls: the first one had someone telling me how to open my desktop, then they passed me to their manager. When I questioned him, he just cut the call straight away, just like I expected. Then, about an hour later, I got a call with no one speaking. How on earth are these scams still allowed to go on?!9 yearsFake caller for sure!Fraudster9 yearsThis person claiming to be from my internet provider was asking loads of personal info. I wasn’t having any of it and gave them a piece of my mind!9 yearsTOTAL SCAM. This bloke called claiming he was from BT, saying there was an issue with our internet. I said he was talking nonsense and clearly a scammer, and he just started shouting and swearing at me. Proper unpleasant.BT9 yearsYeah, it’s really frustrating these calls are scams and that the authorities just can’t track the numbers down. Would be good if they caught these scammers and threw them in jail for some time. It’s pretty sad what people do.9 yearsGot a couple of calls today from someone with an Indian accent saying they're from BT wanting to chat about broadband. The second call was weird though - nothing said at first, just silence, then suddenly a robotic voice said goodbye before hanging up. Bit strange if you ask me.BT9 yearsThis number keeps ringing me about twice a week, but when I answer, there’s just silence and then a robot voice that says “goodbye” before cutting off. Very annoying!9 yearsThey've been ringing me every single day this week, really fed up with it now.9 yearssame here, got a call from some dodgy characters claiming to be from bt. their act was pretty rubbish, but things turned nasty when i said no and they started mouthing off at me.BT9 yearsI received yet another two calls in just three hours today. I greeted them with a "hello" thrice, but there was silence on the other end. Quite bizarre!9 yearsJust had a caller trying to tell me there was a problem with my internet or computer. I asked for my account number to confirm, but he said he couldn’t share that info. Mentioned getting his supervisor, and then he just hung up. Rang BT myself and they told me they don’t call customers from other providers, plus the number wasn’t theirs. Tried to report the scam but they weren’t much help at all, felt like talking to a brick wall. Total scam situation.BT9 yearsI've had a couple of calls from this number, but each time, there’s been silence on the other end. Quite baffling, really.9 yearsHave had about 15 calls in just a couple of days, proper annoying now. Seems like it’s some call centre in India, keep changing their story - first claiming to be BT, then BT Openreach. Not giving out any personal info, no credit card stuff, no passwords, nada. Honestly, just leave me alone already!BTBT Openreach9 yearsgot a call from someone with an indian accent saying they were from bt, told me my internet would be cut off in 10 days. i asked him to give me my account number, and he said he couldn't share that info. that was when i just hung up. total scammer.BT9 yearsGot a call from someone with an Indian accent who said his name was Robin (sure, mate!) and told me there was dodgy activity on my BT broadband and he was going to switch it off.
