Got a dodgy call from some lot trying to give me back either £399 or £1000. They knew my name and address but then suddenly asked for my bank customer number to "confirm" stuff. It was definitely an Indian call centre, you could tell from the loud chatter and noise behind them. The bloke who first phoned me handed me over to a “supervisor” and then a "manager", all with proper English-sounding names but their accents were pure Indian. After about 10 minutes of this nonsense, they just cut me off. Such a sketchy setup.

He told me I’d won a prize from some postcode lottery and that I was entitled to a £399 cheque plus a discount voucher. But then he wanted my bank details so they could ‘activate’ the prize by putting in a £1 test deposit. I told him I wasn’t sure why they’d need that just to send a cheque. They kept going on, saying there was no risk of them taking money from my account just from that info. I just politely said no cheers and ended the call.
