On 6th June 2017 a man called saying he was from some Comparison website and claimed they could lower my phone line rental today. He kept pushing for my details. When I asked where he was calling from, he said Birmingham. Then, when I asked for his number, he just gave me my own landline number. I told him he was trying to pull a scam and he just hung up.

There was a noticeable pause which immediately showed it was some call centre, then a man with an Asian accent asked for me but used my husband's last name, which I don’t go by. I told him in a harsh tone, “what do you want?” and he just hung up. I reckon it might be connected to that TalkTalk breach, as I've read others mention they tried to access their computer from this number. Best not to pick up. I've blocked it now.

I won’t say what I told her to do, but she was pretty pushy. She tried twice more to get through but I’m not picking up now.

This bloke rang, claiming he could knock 40% off my bills. I played along a bit just to try and suss out where his firm was located. To make it quick, I told him I don't take cold calls since I'm on the Telephone Preference Service. He just shrugged and said 'so what', so I hung up. Total scam if you ask me!

Today, my home phone rang with this number on the line. When I picked it up, they promptly disconnected. A quick attempt to call them back left me with a rather unhelpful operator insisting that the number was invalid. Honestly, I'm utterly fed up with all these nuisance calls! More often than not, it’s someone with an Asian accent claiming to be from TalkTalk, or my caller ID just displays "out of area." It's starting to really get on my nerves, especially when I'm inundated with 5 to 6 of these annoying calls daily.

Got a call from this number on my call minder but couldn’t pick up cos I was out. No message left, which is usual for these scammy calls. Can’t really block this kind of call on BT’s 1572 service unless you answer it first, but these dodgy call centres just switch numbers and ring again. Most BT phones say they can block numbers but only up to 50, so it’s pretty pointless and a waste of dosh. They claim to “block up to 99% of nuisance calls” but honestly, it’s more like blocking about 1%!

Got a call from a private foreign number asking to speak to me, never say yes it’s you! Then about 7 minutes later, the same number rang again, clearly they made sure I was home, but no one answered when I picked up. I always try to use a different voice when I answer so they can’t record me - banks are starting to use voice ID but I’m not convinced it’s reliable yet.

Got a call from some dodgy scammers pretending to be from a firm called tech help line in Acton, London. They tried to trick me into letting them hack my computer! I looked into the info they gave me, and surprise, it was all rubbish. I used 1471 to check the last number, which was 01933419588, just like they said. I've reported it to TalkTalk now, fingers crossed they can trace where it’s really coming from!
