Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent asking about a Mr George Penrice. I told her she had the wrong number, but she kept going on the same lines, trying to get me to let her access my computer. Pretty obvious scam, really. Just hang up straight away and don’t follow any of their instructions!

I got a call from a bloke speaking with an Indian accent who convinced me to open up eventvwr on my PC and check the event logs. It’s a common scam where they try to trick you into letting them access your computer so they can nick your passwords or get into your bank account. Somehow, after I rang 1471, it showed me a 01932 number, but when I tried calling it back, it just said the number was unobtainable. Not sure what’s going on with that.

I just had a rather dodgy encounter with a so-called tech support number that turned out to be nothing but a scam. They claimed to be fixing computer security issues but seemed more interested in scamming me. Best to be cautious and do your research before engaging with any tech support.
