Like some others mentioned, this was definitely a scam about a washing machine warranty. The bloke sounded quite polite, which was unusual, but the moment I asked, "What washing machine are you talking about?", he just ended the call.

Some bloke rang me up saying my washing machine guarantee was nearly up, but he didn’t even know what model I had. When I pressed him, he guessed Whirlpool, which is completely wrong. I told him he was trying to con me, and he suddenly got all defensive and rude, even said he hoped someone did fall for it before hanging up. Proper dodgy behaviour.

Thing is, my machine’s pretty new and still under the manufacturer’s cover, and these callers had no clue what model I had. Felt like just some random sales pitch trying to get me to pay for something I don’t need.
