Got a call on 12th Jan 2021 from a woman with no accent. I said it was a private number and asked how she even got my details, then told her to leave me alone. Didn’t say a word cos after a pause, some foreign voice was asking for me by name. I just stayed silent but they kept repeating, so I ended the call. Don’t know anyone in Runcorn either.

They keep switching up the area codes all the time. I get these calls nearly every day, each one showing a different number or area code. Every time I look up the number here, it always flags as risky. I’ve configured my phone so that any call from a number not in my contacts goes straight to voicemail without my phone ringing. If there’s no message left, I’ll look the number up and block it if it looks dodgy.

I received a call from this number last Friday at about 2 in the afternoon. The caller mentioned they were representing Ariva and wanted to discuss a review of my insurance policy. I had to inform them that I couldn't chat, as I was still at work. To be honest, I was hoping it was the local Indian takeaway, as I was anxiously waiting for my lunch order; I had to get back to my duties in just a mere ten minutes! I've since blocked the number.

I found it hard to follow but it was a cold call from some folks calling themselves The Life Insurer's Review Team. They said they work with "all the big providers" and offered to review and switch my life insurance. What freaked me out was that they had my full name! A quick Google suggests Legal and General (my old insurer) might have something to do with these calls to win customers back. This seems like a huge GDPR violation and bad practice, so I will definitely be reaching out to my former insurer!

Heads up, got a call about some life insurance deal promising £250 a night if you end up in hospital with Covid-19. They wouldn’t tell me which company the policy is actually with. There’s no such thing as a ‘life insurance department’ without a proper company name, so watch out and don’t fall for this trick.
