Got a random call from a number I didn't recognise. I picked up and just left the phone down without saying anything. A woman with a strange accent kept saying “hello” a few times, then just stayed silent on the line for nearly a minute until I didn’t reply, so she eventually gave up and hung up. The background noise sounded like one of those packed call centres with a bunch of foreign-accented scammers buzzing around like the pests they are.

They already knew my name and kept pressing me to confirm my age, which I wouldn't do. The person started to get annoyed when I refused. Eventually, I just ended the call and have blocked the number now.

I answered the phone and waited about 8 seconds, thought I was getting put through somewhere, then some bloke with an Indian accent came on. Said he was from Lloyds bank insurance and needed me to click a link they’d sent in a text to check my account. Totally a scam, so I told him I’d be visiting a bank in another town tomorrow and would sort it out then :) He hung up pretty quick, which was nice!

Definitely a scam. The call gets passed onto a person speaking with a white South African accent, and they keep asking about your life insurance details. I'm pretty sure they're not calling from here.

Some woman rang, said she was with compare[###] about life insurance. I told her right away I knew it was dodgy, and she just said alright and hung up. Earlier on, I had a call from an 07807 number saying my National Insurance details were at risk. Another total scam. Makes me wonder how many people from different ethnic backgrounds are behind all these scam calls. I get about six of these every week!

LIFE INSURANCE CHECK - they rang me up asking loads of questions about my life insurance. When I asked why they were calling without me asking, the bloke said I’d signed up for it and couldn’t opt out. I told him I’d just block the number. He got pretty annoyed when I refused to give out my personal details.

I think she mentioned something about Aviva insurance, but I’m not totally sure. When I said I’d tracked her down exactly, she ended the call straight away (obviously I just made that up).
