Luckily my call blocker caught this one before it got through. From reading other comments, it’s clear it’s a scam. The funniest bit was someone pretending to be from Bournemouth but the number was actually from Warwick. They really should’ve checked their UK towns before trying to trick people!

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent claiming to be from UK Appliance, saying they could help block annoying marketing calls. Sounded interesting at first, but I told them nicely I wasn’t interested and they just ended the call.

So the phone rings and when I answer, there’s just silence on the other end! Then I get the ring tone before the call suddenly drops. It’s half past five on a Friday evening, and honestly, I’m not in the mood to chat! Earlier calls claimed I had some maintenance plan under my old married name (which changed over 4 years ago since I remarried), plus I haven’t been a Sky customer for ages. Definitely feels like a scam and straight up harassment to me.

After they double-checked my name and address, the guy calling said my TV service fees were way too high. I tried to say that sometimes paying more means you’re supporting better jobs and cleaner work conditions for the people fixing the TVs. He didn’t seem to get that at all - I had to keep explaining it - and then suddenly he just cut me off and ended the call.

My phone buzzes, I answer with a cautious "hello"... there's a quiet pause, then an Asian voice asks, "is this (correct name)?" I say, "who's asking?" and they just hang up straight away.

This guy called me, said something about my TV and that I’m overpaying so he wanted to cut my bills down. I told him that’s not really possible, he asked why and I said I’m not paying anything right now at all. Then he just called me a liar and ended the call. Quite rude if you ask me.

Some bloke with an Indian accent called me outta the blue, already knowing my name. He was on about how I was getting ripped off on my TV maintenance and could save money by switching plans. Then he started asking stuff about my bank, all rushed. I told him I wasn’t giving out any info, that I don’t even pay for my TV service, and demanded how he’d got my unlisted number in the first place. Next thing I know, he’s just slammed the phone down!

Got a call from an Indian lady claiming she could cut down the maintenance fee for our TV, which they said happens every three years. She asked for my credit card info, saying they're experts at helping older folks like pensioners who might be overpaying. When I questioned why I should hand over money to someone I'd never met and who just called me outta nowhere, she got really narked and just ended the call.
