Just got a ring from a bloke called John, said he’s from Warrington and wants to send someone to inspect my loft insulation because there’s apparently issues with that kind. I asked who would be responsible for fixing it, and he said it’s on me. He mentioned the company was called 'Greencrest'. Seemed a bit dodgy to me, so thought I’d look up the number first since I couldn’t find any info on the company.

Just got a call about loft insulation. Said they were contacting everyone in the PR3 area. They even knew my first name, which was a bit suspicious. When I asked where they got my number from, they just said it was none of their business! Definitely not happy about it. I normally don't pick up these kinds of calls but missed it this time!

Got a call from a woman claiming to be the "Efficiency Officer" for Manchester. She was super vague about who sent her and couldn’t explain why she was ringing from Warrington when my house is actually under Bury Council, not Manchester. She wanted to chat about "important changes" to loft insulation, but I told her straight away I don’t deal with cold calls. Blocked the number after that. Felt like a dodgy and really clumsy sales tactic.

Some bloke called himself Oliver from a Green firm. He knew my real name and where I live. I asked what he was trying to sell and he said “nothing.” Then he told me “Our files say you’ve got basic insulation in your loft.” Like, how on earth does he know what’s in my loft? I just ended the call then.

got a loft inspection done, they didn’t find anything wrong, showed me how the new setup would look, looked fine but i really didnt need it since no problems came up. service was alright, the install might be handy if i had issues but its always good to be sure anyway.

No idea who they were, but they kept talking about insulation and how the UK needs to remove it from like 25 million homes. Told the bloke he was talking nonsense, and he told me to check the BBC and Parliament websites before hanging up on me. Did some digging myself and turns out he was right. Tried calling back to find out about the free service they mentioned, but can’t get through to anyone.

Got a call early in the week and honestly didn’t trust a single thing they said. The person on the other end was quite polite and took time to explain everything clearly, but I was still doubtful. They were nice enough to let me look into it over the week and call me back today. IF you’ve got FIBRE-GLASS or ROCK-WOOL insulation, this service COULD REALLY HELP you out! For anyone unsure, I’d recommend searching BBC Fibreglass on Google.

Eventually, they agreed and let me go up to the loft with them for the check. They measured the condensation and snapped a couple of pics. They said I should probably add some ventilation or maybe get a dehumidifier, and that was pretty much the whole thing.

Just got some Icynene from a rep who came by from a local company. Had never come across them before, but they showed me all about Icynene from Grand Designs. They didn’t push me to buy right away; after checking my loft (which wasnt in the best shape), they planned to leave a free quote. I asked if there was a discount if I bought sooner and they hooked me up with a brilliant price! The stuff has been brilliant so far - straight after installation, my house was roasting and I had to switch the heating off!

The survey didnt cost a thing, but they dont offer any fixes as far as I could tell, I guess youd have to find someone yourself for that. They showed up at 10am sharp, had all their ID and certificates ready, gave me a report, and was gone just before 11:15.
