The call quality was atrocious, and it was evident from the outset that I was dealing with a scam. To play along, I feigned enthusiasm and mentioned a few incidents annually, with the most recent occurring just the previous week. This seemed to invigorate him, prompting him to escalate the matter to his supervisor. The supervisor proceeded to inform me that she had all the necessary information about the other party involved and that the compensation payout was on the hefty side-apparently already in her possession. I decided to have a bit of fun and told her there were a dozen passengers in my vehicle, which she eagerly confirmed from her "records." When she inquired about the nature of the collision, I casually mentioned that I had struck a deer. The look of disappointment on her face was quite something when I asked how the deer went about filing a claim.
