Got a call from a guy named Mark, sounded Asian, who claimed he was with BT and threatening to disconnect my internet. I told him I actually work at BT and asked which team he was with. Suddenly, he just hung up on me!

This bloke claimed he was from BT and told me my internet had been cut off. I told him he was talking rubbish. Then he started going on about how accusing him of lying was racist, just because he spoke with an accent! I explained I wasn’t calling him a liar for that, but because I don’t even use BT broadband. He then asked what internet provider I did have. I got fed up, told him to sort himself out, and ended the call.

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from BT, insisting my broadband service had been cut off. I swiftly called him out for being untruthful, and to my astonishment, he turned it around by accusing me of being racist, as if his accent meant he couldn't possibly be dishonest! When I explained that my disbelief stemmed from not even being a BT customer, he pressed me for the name of my actual provider. In response, I told him to 'get a grip' and promptly ended the call!

They ended the call before I even had a chance to answer, so I went right here to check.

I received a rather unexpected call from a woman who introduced herself as Veronica, claiming I was experiencing issues with my BT router. Upon informing her that I wasn’t even a BT customer, she didn’t take the hint and kept pushing the matter. Eventually, I decided to end the conversation and hung up. To my surprise, she rang me back from a different number, sounding quite irate that I had dared to disconnect. When I mentioned I might report her for harassment, she simply dismissed me with some rather blunt remarks. Quite the peculiar encounter, to say the least!

Just like others here, I got a call from some bloke with an Asian accent, background was a proper noisy call centre. He claimed my BT broadband would be cut off immediately. I was suspicious straight away and asked for my address to prove it was legit. Suddenly, another guy called "John" answered and shockingly gave my exact address! Then I asked for my BT account number, but he said he was from tech support, not accounts and couldn’t share it. I called him out as a filthy liar and he hung up on me. Still feel uneasy that they had my address though.

Saw this on Thinkbroadband Forums in the FYI section. The person on the line sounded completely native, spoke perfect English with no hint of an accent. They gave out the number without any fuss!!! Ended the call with a polite "Have a good day!" I’m sure there’s got to be some way to OUTSMART THEM.

Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent claiming she worked for BT and my internet was having problems, but she could sort it out. I just ended the call straight away.

Got another call from someone saying they were from BT Internet, just 3 days after the last one. I knew straight away it was dodgy, so I asked her to wait a moment, then just let it ring out. After hanging up, I rang BT myself to confirm, and it was definitely a scam. I reckon older people might easily fall for this since they don’t give up easily.

Allegedly from BT, this one keeps calling relentlessly and lets the phone ring for ages, it’s absolutely infuriating!

I've been getting calls nonstop from this number claiming they're with BT. The moment I ask for a BT account number, they just hang up almost straight away. Tried to find where they’re calling from but no luck on a proper location to report to the police. Feels like a dodgy call centre scam to me.

Claimed he was ringing from London, yet the area code is distinctly Wakefield. Quite curious, isn't it?

I received a call from a lady who spoke with an Asian accent, inquiring whether my internet connection was sluggish. She requested that I sit at my computer and follow her directions. Instantly, I realised it was a scam and decided to keep her on the line a bit longer just to toy with her. The call quality was dreadful, so I told her to ring back later. Eventually, another call came through, but I chose to ignore it.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent saying he was from BT tech support about my broadband. Told him he was talking rubbish and just ended the call. I'm pretty sure that wasn't a genuine Wakefield number. Honestly, it's mad that these so-called UK phone numbers are being sold online. How's that even permitted?

I answered and they just dropped the call, so I checked the number on here. Got it blocked now. Cheers to everyone who left those warnings!

Got a phone call from a lady with an Asian accent saying she was with BT. She told me my internet was infected and I'd be without it for two months. I used my standard tactic and asked her for some kind of BT authorisation code for the call. That threw her into a right tizzy, insisting the call was legit from BT. Then I told her to wait while I traced the call, and she just told me to f*** off before hanging up straight away. Something almost identical happened a couple months back and she ended the call the same rude way.

Got calls from this scammer twice today - they really don’t give up! I can see how older folks might fall for it and end up paying a lot. Quite worrying, honestly.

Got a call earlier from a woman speaking with an Asian accent, said she was ringing from BT. I could hear lots of noise in the background like she was in some busy call centre. She even mentioned my postcode but when I asked for time to verify by ringing BT myself, she said she'd call me again later. Pretty sure it was a scam.

Today I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent, who said she was ringing from BT. She told me there were files on my PC that were harming their system and that my computer would need to be offline for like three whole months. I told her that was fine since I don’t even use my computer much. She then asked if I was certain I wasn’t sat at the computer right now, and I just said yes and hung up straight away.

Got a call from someone who sounded Asian, said they were with BT. They told me that no matter who my internet provider was, BT was gonna disconnect me because there were too many errors on my connection. When I questioned it, the guy started yelling at me. I just told him he wasn’t getting anywhere and ended the call quickly.

Got a call like this too, from an Asian lady saying she was from BT with the same old tale. When I asked where she was ringing from, she gave a London address but the number had a Wakefield area code - probably spoofed. I told her she was probably calling from Kolkata. She then asked if I was daft, and I said, "No, but you are, and you’re also a crook." She ended the call. She rang again two days later, but yesterday it was supposedly from the Windows tech support team.

Yesterday I got a ring from this number, a lady with an Asian accent claimed to be from BT about my internet. I told her everything was working fine and mentioned I thought it was a spam call, then she just hung up on me. Then today the same number called again but no one said a word on the line!

Today, 27/06/2017, I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying she was calling from BT about an issue with my broadband. She said it would be disconnected in two months unless we logged on and followed their steps. This was the second time we've received such a call. The first one was from a woman too, and when we told her we didn’t quite get what she meant, she passed us to her supervisor, also Asian, who repeated pretty much the same story. Seems like a total scam to me.
