Got a call from this number just after eight this morning. It wasn’t saved in our contacts and showed no caller ID, so I decided not to pick up. After the voicemail kicked in, the person on the other end quickly hung up. I reckon this is the safest way to dodge dodgy callers or pushy sales folks. Here’s what I stick by: First, if you don’t know the number, don’t answer. And second, real callers will leave a voice message. Follow these tips and you’ll steer clear of a lot of hassle! Happy Christmas everyone!

I received a rather unsettling call from someone claiming to be "Danny" just before 8 o'clock this morning. He was attempting to discuss a grave security issue and insisted on providing me with my computer ID to get the ball rolling. Alarmingly, he had my name and address on hand, though that seemed to be the extent of his knowledge. I chose not to entertain his claims and promptly hung up. He immediately called back, clearly unperturbed, but I put an end to that conversation as well.

We've been getting these dodgy calls again from some so-called Microsoft people, who say our PC's got viruses or something. They tried to convince us they could fix it, but naturally wanted loads of personal info first. My missus answered and just told them to quit babbling nonsense, grow up and find real work. Funny enough, she’s a teacher at a school! Made me chuckle.

Got a call the other day from someone claiming to be Microsoft, saying my computer was at serious risk. The woman had a strong Indian accent and was pretty pushy. We just blocked the number straight away. Then, exactly 24 hours later, another call came through from the exact same number, but luckily my phone stopped it before I even rang. Total scam, obviously!

I was at an elderly lady’s place I help out today when her phone rang just before noon, about 11.55am. She had it on speaker coz she wasn’t sure if it was a scam, so she kept quiet. The woman on the other end then started calling her horrible names - swearing at her twice, then just ended the call. You can guess how upset the poor lady was, and honestly, it made me fuming too. It’s so wrong that this kind of stuff still happens!

I keep getting calls from the same woman, claiming to be from Microsoft or sometimes my internet company. Most recently, she said she's from BT. If you end up talking to them and don’t go along with their requests, they chuck a bloke on the line who tries to convince you to open your laptop and connect to a site that lets them control your machine. Just a heads up - it’s a total scam, so stay alert and don’t fall for it!

There's this incessant caller who simply refuses to drop a message on my voicemail. From what I can gather from other people's experiences, it seems like yet another dodgy scam attempt. If this number really belongs to BT, as mentioned, then one has to wonder why BT isn't doing anything to put a stop to these shenanigans?

Got a call on my home phone from a lady who barely spoke any English, saying she was from Microsoft. Instantly, “scam” and “fraud” popped into my head. I didn’t waste time and just hung up. I've had this number ring me twice at the crack of dawn, and it's quite disruptive to my sleep! Each time I pick up, there's just silence on the other end. At 85 years of age, I'm not quite as spry and don't own a mobile phone, so reaching the landline is a bit of a challenge for me. I really do hope they can find it in their hearts to cease these calls.

Got a call from some woman overseas just before 1am today, saying she was from Microsoft. I wasn’t having any of it and told her so, about to hang up when out of nowhere she started yelling at me - said something like "Shut up you daft old woman. That's now the second time in just two days I've encountered something similar. I make it a point not to let them get into their rehearsed script. I always enquire whether Microsoft provides any training for their staff. They typically respond with a "yes." I then suggest they should consider enrolling in English lessons and, in the interim, kindly tell them to shove off. Oddly enough, they seem to get my drift quite well after that!

Got a call from a bloke who sounded Asian, asking for someone who definitely wasn’t me. I told him he had the wrong number. He then started swearing at me, proper rude like “f**k off you a**hole, c**t.” Couldn’t help but laugh out loud. He seemed well offended and asked why I was laughing. I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from 01919250553 but didn’t pick up ‘cause it smelled like a scam straight away. People like that... seriously, they’re just awful. When I called out their dodgy motives, they started swearing and getting really nasty. It’s mad that with all the tech we have now, these scammy numbers aren’t just blocked automatically.

Every day this woman rings up pretending to be from Microsoft, saying my mum’s PC is hacked and they’ll send out a tech to sort it for free, just need £2.99 to register. Today she got quite pushy with my mum, but mum didn’t hold back and told her off properly. Then about an hour later, a bloke called with the same nonsense. It’s annoying because we can’t block these numbers on our landline. Absolute scammimg rubbish.

I received a call on my home phone, and as I picked it up, the line went dead after roughly ten seconds without a word spoken. It leads me to believe it's a fraudulent call, likely using some sort of automated dialling mechanism. They probably transfer the call to a representative if one is free; otherwise, they just cut you off. Quite the nuisance, really!

Got a call just now, 11:50 this morning, from some Asian person running the usual Microsoft tech support scam. I'm pushing 70 but not daft enough to fall for that rubbish. Told them where to go and hung up sharpish. You'd imagine after all these years, they'd come up with a better act!

I received a rather concerning call claiming to be from Microsoft, and they insisted on chatting about my computer issues. What really set alarm bells ringing was that they addressed me by my first name! To make matters even stranger, they called my landline- a number I hardly use or even recall having- and certainly haven't shared with anyone. Quite baffling, I must say!

I received a call from a chap purporting to be from Microsoft, insisting that my account had been compromised. He recited a number, asserting it was linked to my Microsoft licence. He was keen to share a contact number for me to verify his identity; however, he was rather insistent that involving my IT department was unnecessary. At that point, I decided it best to terminate the call.
