So on 11th December 2020, I got calls from 0191 816 2942 at 12.11 and again at 14.44. There was some recorded message about free gas boiler upgrades from the government. Knowing how dodgy the UK government can be, I figured this call, which seemed to be coming from Tyneside, was probably a scam. Didn’t trust it one bit.

They ring me a couple of times daily, half the time they just hang up without saying a word. On one occasion, I actually heard some music playing before they cut off.

Someone phoning up saying they were from some energy switching company, Energy Supply Board or something like that. They kept pestering me and grilling me with questions. If I ever want to switch my energy provider, I’ll handle it on my own, thanks. Just blocked the number straight away.

So I got a call from 01918162942 claiming to be from a lottery syndicate. Then they started talking about an energy supplier. Surely they can't be tied to both at the same time? Seems a bit dodgy to me.

Thinking about signing up to the TPS, but I’m not sure it will actually stop them. With everything going on at the moment, it feels like this kind of persistent calling should be illegal. I find it hard to believe anyone actually buys from these constant pesterings. There’s loads of firms using these outdated tactics nowadays.
