Got a call from some bloke claiming he was from the 'claims dept' or something, couldn't quite catch his name. Said it was about a car accident. The number showed up as Sunderland, which seemed legit since I’ve got family there, so I picked up. A rather rude chap who claimed to be from India (though I’m dubious about that) called me up to discuss an accident that I can assure you never occurred. It was quite bizarre, really; he couldn’t even tell me my own name, my driving licence details, nor could he recall the company he was supposedly representing. Oh, and when I asked about HMRC, he looked utterly puzzled-shows he hasn’t a clue. Did a bit of digging on the business he mentioned, and surprise, surprise, it doesn’t even exist. Utter nonsense, if you ask me!

I managed to block a number through my phone provider, but when I checked the details, it turned out to be listed as a mobile rather than the 0191 landline I expected. Honestly, it's high time the UK telecoms got their act together to prevent these scammers from exploiting genuine numbers. What a palaver!
