I've been receiving calls from this number incessantly, and they never bother to leave any voicemail. Whenever I answer it, there's a robotic voice on the other side inquiring if my number is linked to a residential premises or a business. The accent hints at an Asian origin, and it's quite apparent that this is nothing but a scam.

Some lot called claiming to be The Energy Checking Company Limited asking who manages the energy supply here. They openly said they dont care about TPS. Then they said they were ringing from the sub-station but that was a total fib. Stay away from these dodgy scammers!

Got a call about energy suppliers, I told her I don’t share personal info over the phone anymore cause I get loads of annoying calls after. Asked for something in writing instead, she then wanted my email. I said no, asked her to send it by post instead since emails get shared with other firms. She said she’d have to ring me again to get my address. Didn’t give them anything, seemed like they were just fishing for my details.

Some bloke rang from Energy Check, trying to suggest there was an issue with our electricity. I told him we’ve had no troubles, but he kept talking about doing some kind of capacity check and mentioned problems at the local substation nearby. I just said I wasn’t interested and ended the call, but I’ll bet they’ll call back later trying to bother me again!

I received a telephone call from someone claiming to be calling from the local electricity substation, stating that he was verifying the electricity allocations for each of our meters. However, since we don’t have any meters installed, I was immediately sceptical about the validity of his claims. To add to my unease, the name he provided didn’t match the one that appeared on my phone screen, which led me to believe he might have called before under a different guise. It was rather frustrating as he managed to have the final say, insisting that since our meters hadn’t been upgraded to smart ones, he would have to terminate the call and promptly hung up on me. Quite a dubious encounter, wouldn’t you agree?

A bloke named Lee called (never said what company he was from, but I've got the number saved as The Energy Check in my phone). He wanted to chat about switching our business meters to smart ones and asked who handles the contracts. I told him it's all sorted through head office, and then he asked for their contact info or email. I just gave him a very general email address - if he's not being straight about his company, I’m not giving out much more!

Got a call from this number (I checked it using 1471) but the bloke I spoke with called himself 'Liam' said I should ring back on 0191 6912795. Weirdly, that number seems to have no bad feedback at all! He kept going on about how we might be overpaying for our energy and needed to run a capacity check. When I asked why someone in the North East would be handling supplies for the South East, he gave some nonsense about dealing with all cattle farms nationwide. Like, what?? Totally fishing for clients and clearly clueless!

I WAS SHOCKED, THE WOMAN WAS IMPATIENT AND WOULDN'T ACCEPT ME ASKING TO BE CALLED BACK LATER - KEEPING PRESSURING TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ELSE AND HER TONE WAS AWFUL. This "Energy Checking Company" bloke tries to confuse you with quick talk, loads of acronyms, and threats about fines if you don’t comply. He was desperate to get me to let him send an email, which I guess was to trap me into some sort of agreement. Total rubbish. The guy claimed he wasn’t trying to sell anything but got really dodgy when I asked questions. Proper rude as well - he hung up on me when I wanted him to explain the acronyms he kept throwing around. Seriously, don’t say yes to anything and don’t even let them send you an email.

Total scam artists. They just grab names and phone numbers from business directories and ring up saying your meter is wrong and you could get some money back. But when you ask where this meter is or how they know it's broken, they can't give an answer. Definitely ready to do anything to rip people off and don’t care about taking advantage of those who are easy targets.

i wasnt willing to talk with this firm at all. they kept asking for my bank info and claiming it was no charge. if it’s free, why bother asking for bank details? to get rid of them, i just said my loft was fully insulated. then they said they’d send people over to remove it and replace it. why on earth would they do that? sounds pretty dodgy if you ask me.
