Lately ive been getting loads of spam calls, here’s my usual routine - I pick up, put the phone on speaker and get on with stuff. Let them go on with their sales spiel, then when they ask if im interested i just say no. They usually snap back with "Thanks for wasting our time" and hang up. They never call again. These people are way too keen on getting my credit card and direct debit info, supposedly to sort out a refund for my smart meter - feels totally like a scam. What they’re saying sounds way off and just like some kind of phishing attempt. They claimed they had my smart meter account details but then couldn’t find my account number when I told them I didn’t know it and answered the usual security questions my energy provider asks. Definitely dodgy behaviour.

Honestly, I reckon the main fault lies with those internet trunking firms for not closing up the legal gaps that let this sort of thing happen. There needs to be way tougher rules for international web-phone systems. The issue comes from letting calls cross borders so freely, instead of keeping them within their own country’s limits. That way, calls could be traced much easier. As I see it, we’ve got enough telecom services right here in the UK, so there’s hardly any reason for England to deal with or even permit access to these kinds of services from abroad.

Honestly, these folks arent just takin money from people but are also messin with our whole government budget and economy. Stuff like fundin the covid vaccine gets way harder cuz of that.
