When you pick up and the call just cuts off, it’s probably because it’s one of those multi-calls. They ring loads of numbers at the same time and only connect with whoever answers first. I got a proper BT phone for about £30 and it lets you block as many numbers as you like. Definitely worth it.

At first there was silence when I answered, but on the third "Hello," a woman finally picked up. I told her straight away I wasn’t interested in anything she might be peddling - whether it was solar panels, PPI claims, accident insurance, boilers, windows, double glazing, kitchens, whatever. She claimed she wasn’t selling anything. I just said I didn’t want any of it and asked her to remove my number from their list. Then I ended the call. Honestly, what’s the use of having a landline these days? All I ever get is annoying calls like this.

This number rang me before on 07/12/2015, like I mentioned earlier, I dont answer because they pretend to be local which ive been tricked by before. I have all my mates and fam stored with unique ringtones so now I just leave it to ring out until they give up and hang up. These calls are so annoying and from what I’ve seen here, if they’re really coming from overseas, there’s nothing in our laws that can really block them, which is a real shame.

I think 0191 numbers are usually linked to Newcastle, but is there a way to mask the origin, do you reckon? The bloke on the phone sounded like he was from Manchester though, and he was proper cheeky. He was banging on about some government freebies or schemes. I’m aware of a few things like solar panel stuff but this just didn’t sit right with me at all. If the guy was legit, he definitely needs some training or a whole new attitude. Like someone else mentioned, they get quite pushy, saying stuff like “listen here, mate, just listen.” Honestly, if they keep pestering, I’m off to report them to the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). Alright everyone, just a heads up. This number called me a few days ago asking if I was Mr Brown. I fibbed and said yes since I've had loads of calls lately trying to pin down my surname. They started talking about solar heating, but I told them I already had it sorted. Surprisingly, they said they'd take me off their call list and wouldn't bother me again. … now, here's the weird part - the very next day, I got another call from someone asking for Mr Brown, saying there was a cheque from Lloyds bank for £3,000 waiting for me, but they'd need my bank details to put it into my account. This one was from one of those charming folks from India. Just be careful out there.

Got a call from some bloke named Cameron on 0191 6719208 about solar panels. I told him I’m registered with the TPS so he’s not allowed to cold call me, and asked what company he was with. He just snapped back, “Should’ve paid attention earlier!” When I told him I’d report him, he rang again pretending to be from the National Lottery, even knew my address and repeated my own warning to him. Got a call today from someone saying they were from the Energy Commissioners Office, apparently a government body doing a survey about solar power. When I said we’re not paying anything, he kept insisting it was all free at first. Then, when I pushed back, he claimed both the government and energy firms would reimburse us. I asked why we’d get paid back if it was free in the first place. He then said someone would have to visit and explain the charges. The guy completely contradicted himself a few times about costs.
