The bloke, who called himself ‘Daniel’, had a rather pronounced accent that felt distinctly Southern-think London or Essex. He greeted me by my first name and started chatting about whether I was still hitched, claiming he could assist with reclaiming my marriage tax allowance. I politely declined his offer, so he didn’t probe me any further. To his credit, he was quite courteous and thanked me for my time. I've since blocked the number, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they ring back using a different one.
