I’m convinced it’s a tax con artist operation! I received a recorded message that claimed to be from HMRC, insisting I sort out some outstanding taxes right away. Total nonsense!

Got a call from a guy with a strong accent (definitely not Asian) telling me I've got some unpaid tax bills and that there’s an investigation going on. He said I’d better ring back or else there’d be serious trouble.

Got a call earlier today from this number but didn’t answer it. Decided to block it straight away. These scammers abroad seem to use UK landline numbers to hide their real location, making it tricky to track them down. I’ve actually written to my MP about how the government plans to tackle this problem since these calls can easily trick people into thinking they're legit UK numbers. The reply I got was somewhat informative, but sadly, it looks like it’ll need a lot more MPs pushing for change before anything serious happens.

I just got a voicemail from a bloke speaking with an Indian accent, saying I was entitled to claim some PPI and bank fee refunds. He urged me to ring the number back right away to get the cash before the PPI cutoff date. Seems like a total scam to me, probably one of those Premium Rate numbers that traps you into huge charges or maybe even tries to steal my bank info. Definitely dodgy.

Got a voicemail from a guy with a thick Indian accent saying I should call a certain number to get some PPI money back. Sounds like a total scam to me.

Got a voicemail with a strong accent that was pretty hard to understand. They said I needed to call them back straight away or there'd be some sort of "consequences". Sounded dodgy to me.

On 30th May 2019 around 12:50, my dad, who's 89, got a voicemail from this number 01915805886. The message was just like the others, saying he owed the tax office £2755 and needed to ring them back.

I got this exact same voicemail thing yesterday. I’m usually careful about sharing personal bits online, but maybe if we shared the area code we’re calling from, it might show if these calls are totally random or if they’re just dialing up numbers one after another? I get loads of these annoying calls and my number’s the first in my region, finishing with 0000.

Got a call from 01915805886 claiming I owed more than £2000 in taxes. They said they were from HMRC and told me to ring another number or I'd face police action. It felt really threatening and stressed me out. This has gotta be a scam trying to scare loads of folks.

I got a call on my home phone supposedly from a Sunderland number, despite being signed up with the TPS. It was a recorded message with a foreign accent claiming to be from HMRC, saying I owed £2755 in unpaid taxes. I’m well aware it’s a scam, but it really concerns me that older or vulnerable folks might get fooled by this. I’ve told my parents to ignore any calls from ‘HMRC’ and just hang up straight away. Surely there’s some way to finally crack down on these scammers?!

Got a call from a guy with a strong Far East accent saying I'd been caught dodging my taxes, and owed £2755. He told me to call back on 0191 580 5886 or I’d get into legal trouble. Yeah right, no way. I’ve already blocked that number now.

Came back and found a message on my answerphone, it was saying I supposedly owe over £2,000 in taxes and calling this number right away would stop any legal troubles. It’s awful how scared some folks, especially older ones, get by these calls. I really hope people are looking out for their older relatives and mates. Even if we know it’s dodgy, not everyone does, so it’s important to spread the word not just online but by chatting with others too.

So apparently I need to ring this expensive number because supposedly I’ve messed up my taxes and am facing some kind of legal action - what a load of rubbish.

0191 580 5886 called me and left a voicemail about some problems with my bank account or something. Sounds like a total scam to me. The message didn’t make much sense, and I’m not sure who would fall for it. But I’m worried that maybe just answering the phone or the call itself could let them hack into our devices? Anyone with tech knowledge know if that’s a thing?

Got another call today, supposed to be about my online banking - total scam, don’t fall for it!

Honestly, can’t people just get a proper job instead of pestering like this? Absolutely no need to ring again, proper low lives. Someone should really do something to shut this down.

I just got in and found this weird message on my answer machine. The bloke had a really strong Asian accent and was talking nonsense about compromised data or something. Honestly, who falls for these dodgy calls? They've been blocked now. Pro tip: never pick up if you don’t know the number, people.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, saying my messages with them were 'haked' (yeah, they said it like that). The voice sounded like it might’ve been from India or somewhere in Asia, defo not Geordie, even though the number showed Sunderland. It’s a pity they’re just pre-recorded messages - would’ve loved to mess about and waste their time if it was a real person!

Got a voicemail from a bloke speaking in what seemed like Chinese, but it really sounded robotic, like a recorded message. He didn’t say who he was, but warned that my bank details might be at risk and told me to ring the number given. Honestly, I reckon it was all just rubbish.
