Received a ring from 01915598321 on New Year’s Eve. A chap on the other end said he was connected to the Government’s Green Deal initiative. He insisted that my boiler was eligible for the scheme and that an assessor would swing by, demanding £249 upfront. Oddly enough, the line went silent when I replied, “Hold on a sec! Why on earth would I part with any cash before a thorough assessment?”

Got calls all the time from different numbers with the same green deal recorded message, even tho I've put my number on the Telephone Preference Service. Every time I block one, another pops up with the exact same thing. It's clear they couldn't care less about bothering folks or making sure they're calling the right people. Proper annoying.

I’m registered with TPS like most folks, yet these annoying calls keep coming through. Just so you know, 0191 is actually a Tyne/Wear area code, so even if it might sound Welsh, it’s definitely not. These calls are a scam, nothing to do with the genuine "Green Deal" company, even though I’ve dealt with them before and they do cold call too. I’m thinking of getting a phone with caller ID soon. If that’s what they’re trying to sell, count me in!

Got the same recorded call as I did yesterday afternoon. I decided to hit "2" so I could talk to someone live. Asked them what company they were with. They said "The Government Green Deal" - yeah right, seems like a made-up name to me. The person had a Welsh accent, made me wonder if it was one of those Kev and Co types... I'm going to report this to the ICO again, just like I did yesterday.

The Government’s ‘Green Deal’ is definitely real - I work for one of the top UK energy companies, so I’m familiar with it. However, it feels a bit suspicious when the caller refuses to say which company they’re with. I reckon they want you to book a Green Deal assessment, which usually costs money, but can help spot grants or funding you might be entitled to - and sometimes the inspection might even be free. Still, not mentioning the company’s name or details makes it sound a bit dodgy to me. Best thing is to ring your energy provider directly - they’ll give you clear info and steer you the right way.

Got a voicemail about some government green deal, which was weird ‘cause we're meant to be on the TPS list.

This number has been ringing me up quite often. I told the person who picked up that I’m on the TPS and asked how to get them to stop. Instead of helping, they started making silly noises and annoying “errrr” sounds. When I said I was recording the call, they just started whistling. It’s like they believe there are no consequences for bothering people. Really upsetting situation.
