Received a ring from 01915598321 on New Year’s Eve. A chap on the other end said he was connected to the Government’s Green Deal initiative. He insisted that my boiler was eligible for the scheme and that an assessor would swing by, demanding £249 upfront. Oddly enough, the line went silent when I replied, “Hold on a sec! Why on earth would I part with any cash before a thorough assessment?”

As many others, I’ve signed up with TPS, yet these irritating calls persist. Just a quick note - the 0191 area code belongs to Tyne and Wear, so whilst it might have a hint of a Welsh twang, it’s not from there. This particular call is entirely a scam and has no connection to the genuine “Green Deal,” which may still be involved in cold calling, as I have found out. I’m seriously considering investing in a call display phone. If that's what they're peddling, count me in as a potential buyer!

Received another recorded message, identical to the one from yesterday afternoon. This time, I opted to press "2" for a chat with an advisor. I asked for the name of the company, and they said, "The Government Green Deal" - which I strongly suspect is just a cover-up. The chap had a Welsh accent; could it be one of those Kev & Co. scammers? I plan to lodge a complaint with the ICO, just as I did yesterday.

The Government’s ‘Green Deal’ truly exists, and I’ve got the inside scoop since I’m affiliated with the largest energy provider in the UK. However, it raises alarm bells that they fail to disclose any company name. It seems to me they might be attempting to entice you into signing up for a Green Deal assessment, which does come at a cost. This assessment can reveal whether you’re eligible for any government assistance, and there’s even a chance it could be complimentary! Still, why the secrecy about their identity? It's all a bit fishy if you ask me. Best to give your energy provider a ring-they’ll steer you in the right direction!

I keep receiving calls from this number almost daily. When I inquired with the person who picked up about how to put a stop to these calls, especially since I'm on the Telephone Preference Service list, they began to make ridiculous noises and drawn-out “errrrr” sounds like a child would. When I mentioned I was recording our conversation, they just started whistling! They seem to believe they won’t face any consequences for their actions, which is beyond frustrating. It’s really troubling, to be honest.
