I’ve been getting weird calls just like the last person mentioned, sometimes it’s a recorded message, other times someone actually talks to me. They claim to be from BT and threaten to disconnect my internet. The calls come from loads of different parts of the country, which makes me wonder if it’s some sort of nationwide scam, or whether the scammer has found a way to use random landline numbers to make the calls? Could it be possible that these folks are real BT workers or maybe they know someone who works there, giving them access to genuine customer phone numbers?

Got a robo call saying there’s some “hacking” on my internet and they were from Ofcom. They kept mentioning BT and warned my internet would get cut off in 24 hours if I didn’t do something. They wanted me to press 1 or 2 to find out more or keep going. Totally sounded like a scam to me.
