Someone said they were from OVO energy but I already told them I dont want a smart meter and they have that noted down on my account. Feels like it could be a con, but then again maybe OVO just hires others to ring people up and push for smart meter installs. Whatever it is, best thing is to just not pick up!

01914292791 rang claiming to be from OVO in Tyne & Wear, but it was a blatant scam. They tried putting on a Geordie accent which was really dodgy. Don't get drawn in, just hang up and block straight away.

So i just looked it up again, turns out its Ovo Energy calling but cos their staff work remotely the number shows up as spam. The person on the phone helped me get set up with a smart meter which was useful. I was previously with SSE and their calls always got marked as spam too, so i just ignored them. Then SSE went bust and Ovo took over. Thought I’d share, hope that clears it up for anyone else!

01914292791 - From Newcastle region. A lady with an unfamiliar accent, spoke way too quick, couldn't catch what she was saying properly. Said she was calling from OVO Energy about setting up an appointment for a Smart Meter. I told her Smart Meters aren’t really that clever, so I’m not interested. Had to repeat myself a couple of times before she finally understood. Might be a third party working for OVO, but I blocked the number anyway, don’t want endless calls from them.

From what I’ve read here, it might be OVO about smart meters, if that’s right then that call was totally unsolicited. 😡

I keep an old Nokia especially for people I dont want in my business. This call only rang once then stopped, defo trying to get me to ring back and charge me loads! After reading the comments, it seems 0V0 who took over my previous energy company have been pestering me quite a bit.
