Claimed to be from EE, but something just felt off about it. Pretty sure it was just another annoying spam call.

When you’ve cancelled your EE phone line, this number is what their sales team calls from to double-check if everything’s okay. You can just ignore it though, they’ll eventually remove you from their follow-up list anyway.

So it turns out it's this third party claiming to work for EE, but funny enough, my phone’s spam blocker by EE itself has them on lockdown.

Got a call from a number that didn’t show up in my contacts, just came up as unknown. I’m gonna block it straight away and report it as spam to my network. Such a pest, keeps ringing over and over - honestly, best thing to do is delete, block and report it if you can. EE have already warned folks this is a scam, so definitely don’t answer and make sure you block it!

I signed up for a SIM deal with EE but never received the card, and now I'm getting strange calls from numbers I don't recognise. Feels like my details might have been passed on to dodgy third parties (so I've heard). Bit of a mess, really.

Got a call from someone saying they were EE checking up on a query I’d apparently put in with their sales people the day before. Thing is, I was actually chatting to BT tech support about a broadband issue and a temporary mini hub, but I don’t remember any talk with EE’s sales at all. Not sure if it was just a mix-up or if someone was having a laugh pretending to be them.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from EE about something I supposedly left in my online basket. When I asked why they couldn’t just let me check out myself online, they said they usually do credit checks over the phone! That instantly felt off and scammy. I tried to get them to specify what item was supposedly in my basket, but they dodged the question and just said I could swap it for something else if I wanted. The whole thing felt really strange. Since I wasn’t comfortable sharing any personal info but was trying to get details from them, they said they were tied up and then just hung up on me. Really dodgy behaviour.

I didn’t pick up 'cos I didn’t recognise the number. But, like others have said, I’d been checking out EE’s site and a day or two later they rang me. They lost their chance of gaining a new customer though, as I couldn’t find any way to actually talk to a person - seems like they don’t want you to reach out to them, but expect you to answer their calls. I just ignore calls from numbers I don’t know.

Honestly, the world feels a bit dodgy lately! I’ve been checking out EE’s broadband and TV packages on their website the past few days, never put in any of my personal details apart from the new home address we’re shifting to. Then today, this number rings me twice. Picked up the second time, fully expecting some scam, but it was EE themselves. That’s proper creepy though - how did they get my number from just browsing online? Feels like more than just chance to me.

Just got a new EE SIM card and barely had it five minutes when a call came through! No one had the number before me since it was totally fresh and waiting for my number to switch over. Obviously something fishy going on so I didn’t pick up. Now I’ve blocked all calls linked to it. Weird how a SIM I’d just set up got a random call so quickly when no one else even knew the number yet. Its a right laugh honestly!

Sounds like it was a call centre linked to EE; they said they could offer better deals on contracts than EE themselves online or via their customer service. They began by mentioning upgrade options I hadn’t used yet but didn’t really ask for any private info or passwords. Most likely some kind of marketing branch with limited access to EE’s database.

This definitely wasn’t EE - I rang their genuine helpline to double check. The caller wanted all my details like name, date of birth, plus my current and last address. Then they sent me a message linking to a BT verification chat claiming it was to stop fraud. They were really calm and polite, even caught on when I hesitated and tried to make me feel comfortable, but it was clearly a scam pretending to be from EE. There was loads of loud noise in the background, like a busy office or call centre type of place.

I didn’t pick up when they called, but after readin the other comments and seeing it’s EE, it adds up since I was nearly done with an order on their site yesterday but chickened out at the last minute. Honestly, it was really from EE. They offered me a data plan for my iWatch, and when I checked my EE account, it showed up there. I never gave any card info or lots of personal details. Everything was just connected through my phone number and the name on the account. I even double-checked with EE's customer support to make sure the call came from a legit sales team.

Got a call, the person talked super fast and said they were from my mobile provider. I asked her a few times to say again where she was calling from and I’m pretty certain she said EA instead of EE. So I got through to someone from EE, a guy called Liam. He was really friendly and actually helped me with a problem I was having. Sure, it felt like he was trying to pitch me a phone or something, but once he saw I wasn’t interested, he stuck around to answer my questions and help with EE stuff.

They've been ringing me loads but I always just let it go to voicemail. One day I actually picked up and they claimed to be from EE, telling me about stuff I’ve been missing out on. Then they asked for my security info, which I wasn’t about to share. As soon as I said no, they just hung up straight away. If you’re unsure, best thing to do is just block the number, easy peasy.

I found out that this phone number actually belongs to EE, according to their site. It’s one of the numbers linked to their 'Direct Partners', specifically to a company called Inspired. The other numbers they have for this partner are 01914 290924, 01914 290922, and 01914 290258.

This unknown number kept calling me a few times, so I finally answered. Turns out it’s EE Mobile doing cold calls to their existing customers, trying to push more products and services. I nicely told the caller to not phone me again, but they replied quite rudely and dismissively. It’s really disappointing and a bit shocking that EE is using this kind of approach on customers who are already signed up and giving their loyalty.

They've rung me like 5 times over the past few days. I haven’t answered, but reading through all these posts, I’m starting to think it might be a scam as well.

This number has tried to ring me like 5 times over the past few days. I didn’t answer, but after seeing what others said, I’m leaning towards it being a scam as well.

Got a call from this number asking if I was pleased with my new phone upgrade and if I got all the features properly.

Since switching over to EE, I've had three calls already, so it's not far-fetched to think it might be telemarketing. That said, if the callers aren't legit, and judging by other comments it looks like that's the case, it's worrying that there might be some security flaw in EE's setup letting scammers get hold of customer info. EE, you really need to look into this!

Since switching over to EE, I’ve had three calls already, so it's quite likely these are marketing calls. But if those other comments are anything to go by, and the calls aren’t legit, it’s pretty worrying. It makes me think there could be some kind of breach in EE’s system that’s letting fraudsters get hold of customer info. EE, you really need to look into this, seriously!

I got this call from EE myself, right after signing up for a contract. It was mostly about trying to sell me extra stuff, but I can confirm it was genuinely from EE.

Does anyone know if 0257029207 is a scam number? I’m not sure if it’s legit or just some dodgy caller.

Total scam, they just want your details, steer clear! Every call comes from some bloke named Dan. Just block em!

Not sure really. They send texts pretending to be EE but then wanna get you to say out loud a four digit PIN which you shouldn’t share with anyone. Thats when I just hung up. Your personal details are worth way more than any so called exclusive offers.

I’m not convinced these callers are real EE employees. Over the past 10 months, I’ve been dealing with someone stealing my identity and following me. This number has tried to ring me three times, just random calls, but I reckon they’re getting nervous as the noose tightens and want to extract info about the fraud. I rang the number back, and their listed opening hours don’t line up with genuine EE call centres - they say they close at 2pm on Saturdays, but I got a call from them at 10 past. I strongly suspect the people behind this are up to no good, so don’t reveal anything unless you want them to and definitely make sure you alert EE about it.

Might be EE, or it could be a scam. If it really is EE, their ways need sorting. They claimed I had some deals waiting, just wanted my full name, but I said, "You rang me first." Then they sent a text as “evidence.” I told them I could easily fake a message showing EE on the sender, so that’s not proper proof at all.

I got a call from a bloke acting like he was with EE. I’d just bought a phone from them, so at first I kinda believed what he was saying. Lucky I decided to check online before doing anything!

Beware of callers pretending to be from EE offering special deals or discounts on your phone plan. They don’t have any of your real details like your name or contract info, and will try to coax this information out by pretending it’s part of a “security check”. These fraudsters are quite clever and might even send a One Time Passcode (OTP) to your phone, making it seem like a legitimate security step. But the truth is, all they need is your phone number, which they already have since they’re the ones ringing you. With that, they can gain access to your account. If you’re unsure at all, just hang up and ring EE directly using the number from their official website.

This number ain't linked to EE at all. I rang their official customer service to check and they confirmed it's not theirs. Some scammer is using EE's name to trick people. Do not share any personal info, just hang up. Then call EE on the number you know is legit and report what the scammer said.

Its a sister firm to EE - you can see it mentioned right on the EE site. They’re just ringing up to pitch different deals.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Maggie at EE, told me I had a contract waiting in my basket - which was actually correct. But I got a bit iffy when she started asking for my surname again, even though I already entered it on the EE site. I just told her I’d ring EE myself later, didn’t want to give any card details over the phone right then.

It has to be linked to EE since they knew I’d been chatting with them just a couple of days prior. Otherwise, maybe Alexa was eavesdropping and spilled the beans on my conversation.

It’s EE and they ring me about every half year pushing broadband or a tablet deal that’s supposedly a “limited time offer”. Seems like the same offer is available any day of the year to me. Funny enough, they never call when it’s time for my upgrade, huh?

After seeing the comments, it actually cleared things up for me. I was checking out getting an EE contract myself, and with some folks mentioning EE ringing about stuff left in shopping baskets, it started to make sense. Honestly, it’s just a bit of a hassle more than anything else.

So, this company called Inspired works directly with EE and gets your phone number from them to try and sell you even more stuff. They definitely don't seem to have the same level of politeness or customer service as the actual EE team. Like others have said, they don't properly say who they are and just keep trying to sell extras, which honestly makes it feel a bit like a scam.
