I’ve already sorted a contract with EE, so I’m not interested in any more sales calls, which is what I’m guessing these are. If it keeps up, I’m thinking of raising it with EE. If you search on Google for Bts appointed specialist partners, you’ll see it’s a firm called Inspired Outsourcing based in Newcastle upon Tyne. They handle completing your Home Essentials order, organising the installation, and they don’t ask for any bank details or payment until the gear is fitted and working properly. Definitely not a scam.

I had a rather odd encounter recently. A chap claiming to be from BT rang me and started probing me with all sorts of personal questions, including my date of birth. Then he went on to delve into where I’d been living over the past three years! It felt all a bit too intrusive for my liking, so I politely ended the call and opted to place my order online instead. A short while later, I was alerted by my bank, Barclays, about a dodgy transaction on my credit card! Thankfully, their fraud team was on the ball and got in touch to let me know they’d flagged it and stopped the payment. I can't stress enough how vital it is to be cautious with unsolicited calls-if they seem dodgy, trust your instincts and always verify any official credentials before proceeding.

Although loads of people say it’s a scam, this call is really from BT’s marketing folks. When you visit their site to check prices, they ask for your mobile number and if you don’t finish the order, they ring you up to see if you need any assistance or a nudge to complete it. They sometimes even mention deals that aren’t advertised online.

I signed into BT’s site to sort out renewing my line rental saver but left my basket after seeing something I wasn’t sure about and wanted to ask. Got a call from someone pretending to be BT, trying to get my details. They first said there was no upfront fee of £29.99, but after a supposed credit check they changed it to £100. They wanted me to share my screen via a link sent to my phone, which made me suspicious straight away. I checked the number on this site and every review said it was a scam. So I stopped the call, cancelled what they asked, and blocked the number. Really glad I found this website, it definitely helped me avoid a rip off.

I can assure you it's not a scam; it's BT. I was browsing some Black Friday offers and filled in my information on their site, but I didn’t complete my transaction. They rang me to check in, but unfortunately, I missed the call. It seems likely that the representative didn’t wait long enough for me to pick up and just marked it off as a call attempt. Appears to be a genuine phone call from BT. Earlier, I was browsing their website and the person on the line mentioned that I had cancelled a broadband order halfway through. When I informed him that I had already called and resolved the matter, he didn't seem bothered. If this call was a scam, then they must have had access to BT's website.

I received a genuine call from BT today. Interestingly, I had been browsing their website not long before, and the caller mentioned that I had left a broadband order incomplete. He was quite cheerful when I mentioned that I’d already called and resolved the matter. If it were a fraudulent call, it would suggest they somehow had access to BT’s online information. I was looking into the BT Essentials deal and put some of my info on their site, like my mobile and National Insurance Number. I never picked up after I saw this number on your site. How on earth do they have my details when my tablet’s security is pretty good??

The same number called again and when I tried calling it back, there was some automated message saying it was BT trying to reach me. I then rang BT on their official line and they said it’s a scam since all their numbers begin with 0800. But if it’s a scam, how did they know I’d ordered only the day before? That really worries me.

I had some online contact with BT yesterday (Sunday) but didn’t actually talk to anyone. They have my phone number(s), and I got confirmation from BT that everything was sorted (switched my tariff). Then today in the afternoon I got a call on my mobile from these scammers, but I didn’t pick up. I checked the number and found out it was a scam. Seems to me like BT are either passing on your info to these con artists or their database’s been hacked. Either way, BT are responsible and breaking GDPR rules. I’m now waiting for BT to get back to me about my complaint.
