This is a telly sales outfit hired by BT. You can check out the official BT site [#]bt[###]/partners where their company details are listed as Kura Citypoint, 21 Tyndrum Street, Glasgow G4 0JY. You can ring them on 0141 272 1075 [#]wearekura[###]. They usually call from 0191 426 5086. It’s not some dodgy scam, just a dull telesales firm working for BT.

He had a Scottish accent and said he was ringing from BT in Glasgow. But the number started with 0191, not 0141 like it should. He knew my name and said he needed to check if I was the one who held the BT account, cause he was offering some sort of upgrade. I had company over, so I just cut the call short.

Got a call at 7.50pm from someone claiming to be from BT. They knew our name which was a bit creepy, but what annoyed me the most was waking the kids up. This time I answered but kept quiet until they spoke first. I could hear some strange background sounds then they just hung up. Seems like these scammers have returned. Honestly, could have done with a whistle for Christmas to warn me!

Back again cos my comment was apparently too long. If anyone wants to chase this up, the freephone number on our letter is 08009173245. We're based in Aberdeenshire. I've rang BT before about calls from numbers others warned were scams, they do check and I guess note it down but can’t really do much else. Best just to block the number and trust your official letter if you get one.

I answered with a quick hello and there was a silence, just as I was about to hang up this bloke started talking but I already put the phone down. I looked up the number here and on another site then blocked it straight away. A few people mentioned it might be BT or broadband related, so I figured I’d add that last week we got a letter from BT saying they’re sending a new Smart Hub 2 within 10 days because our copper broadband will be switched to fibre broadband on 27th March, all at no extra cost or changes to our current contract.

The caller had a Scottish accent and seemed quite polite. She said she was calling from BT in Glasgow. I told her I wasn’t interested in any scam calls pretending to be BT, and she said they knew about those scams. Still, she kept asking me loads of questions about how often I use the internet. Somebody rang saying they were from BT, warning that basic broadband would be discontinued by March 2020 and we all needed to switch to their superfast fibre on a 24-month contract. I told them I’d received a letter offering an upgrade at the same cost for 18 months but nothing about the current service stopping. They insisted I check the email again - but I never got one. When I mentioned how annoying it was to get junk post when I’d gone paperless, they said they’d send me another letter! I cut the call short before I said anything I might regret.

They tried the same trick on me! Had a look at some of the comments here to see what others think about this number. Usually, scam calls I get only have like one or two pages of comments, so I wasn’t sure if this one was a spam or proper scam. Turns out it’s definitely a scam. Saw a useful post a few pages back (from May) describing how to deal with these calls. I’ll give it a go and see what comes of it. Also gonna block this number, but gotta be careful since most blocking options only let you block a certain amount of numbers.

I got a voicemail saying it was from BT warning me I'd lose my broadband unless I paid extra. So I got in touch with BT and they said they never leave messages like that. I reported it as a scam with the exact date and time. Everyone should do the same and complain, not to BT but so Ofcom starts paying attention. 01914265086 rang me twice back to back today, I just let the answering machine pick up, no message was left either time. Honestly, the landline is pretty pointless now, we only pick up if we know the caller, because most of the time it's dodgy calls or those annoying surveys.

Got a call on my home phone, but no one answered when I picked up. I could hear a weird noise in the background, like a looped tape with loads of Irish voices chatting away. I tried saying hello several times but still no one spoke back, so I just ended the call.

Got a call from this number, the person said they were from B T and asked me by name about my broadband. I told them my broadband was actually with Sky, and it’s under my husband’s account. They wanted to chat to him but he wasn’t around. They said they’d ring again but I told them not to bother since he’s happy with Sky. Then they just ended the call.

On the 29th of August at 12:45, a female claiming to be from BT Glasgow called me. Upon my request for an email, she replied that she was unable to fulfill my request and abruptly ended the call. Once again, it seems like another scam from some repugnant individuals.

Got a call from BT saying they’d send me a new fibre broadband router since the one I had was due to stop working soon. I’ve been with them a while, so they said it would be free, but only if I signed up for 18 months more. They haven’t sent anything in the post or email yet, and now my phone’s not working properly either. Quite frustrating!

They said they were BT when I asked, but I’m not convinced. Told me I had to switch to fibre because the ADSL service was shutting down in 2020. This lot from Glasgow ring me quite a bit. I reckon it’s just some sales team, but they don’t seem to tell the truth at all.

Got a call from a guy with a Scottish accent saying he was from BT in Glasgow. He told me he was checking to make sure I was getting the best deal since I supposedly been with them a long time. Problem is, I've only had BT for about 3 months. So something felt off, didn’t trust it at all and just ended the call.

They ring every once in a while, usually around 4 to 6 times in a row, then they go quiet for a couple of months. We don’t pick up calls from unknown numbers, so if they don’t leave a voicemail, it’s impossible to tell what it was all about.

I called BT to verify this number and it’s a total scam. Some woman with a Scottish accent was on the line trying to get me to sign up for a mobile contract. I’ve blocked the number now.

Since my last note on 12/07/19, this same number keeps ringing my home phone over and over. I’m convinced it’s an automated caller. I can’t imagine any real person being daft enough to keep dialling a number that they know is blocked for good. Or maybe they are?
