This seems to be quite common in the Newcastle, Durham, and Sunderland regions. They gather intelligence from Companies House about businesses that owe significant debts due to recent administrations. Then, they offer you a so-called "complimentary investigation." You might think, "Great," but hold on! They will then inform you that the business in question has a wealthy director or owner who can pay back all your owed funds, plus additional costs! Sounds fab, doesn’t it? However, here’s the catch: you’ll be required to fork out £700 plus VAT (what a surprise, eh?). They promise that if they don’t recover anything for you within a year, you’ll get a refund - but that is an absolute farce! They’ll shut down their operations, and your money will vanish into thin air.
