Got a call about a client of mine whose company recently went into administration. Turns out IT’S A TOTAL SCAM. This sort of thing is really common around Newcastle, Durham, and Sunderland. These scammers dig through Companies House records to spot businesses that are owed big sums after administrations. They offer a “free initial investigation” - of course you say yes. Then they claim they’ve found a wealthy director who can pay up, and promise to recover all your cash PLUS legal costs! Sounds brilliant, right? But here’s the catch - they want you to cough up £700 plus VAT upfront. If they don’t recover anything within 12 months, supposedly you get your money back. Spoiler alert: you don’t. They just shut down and vanish with your money. DO NOT TRUST THEM AT ALL.
