I received a call from a woman with an African voice this afternoon. She surprisingly knew my first name and claimed she was contacting me regarding a PPI tax claim I had submitted back in December. However, she was rather insistent about obtaining my personal details before she would divulge any further information. This raised quite a few red flags for me, so I decided to hang up and promptly block the number. Seemed like a dodgy situation to me!

I got a call from a guy who sounded Indian earlier today. He told me he could help me find a job and started asking about how much I earn now. I replied no and mentioned that the owner prefers to have all pertinent information before taking any calls… as I was explaining this, he abruptly cut off the line. Tried to return the call, and it just rang for ages before going silent. Clearly, this is not a trustworthy outfit.

The figures they quoted were ridiculously inflated. I told them I wasn't keen on the idea, yet they persisted in their pitch. Frustrated, I eventually decided to end the conversation and hung up.

Got a couple of dodgy calls yesterday. I ended the first one straight away, thinking it was a scam. I put that number on my block list, but then another call came through from a similar, but not the same, number - so I blocked that too. It’s frustrating because it feels like these crooks never get caught or punished. Loads of people around my age aren’t as clued up about phone scams and online safety as I am.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with "merchant services" saying we'd been approved for a cash advance. I asked them what exactly merchant services was, and the guy answered by asking if we take payments via Sage or Lloyds with a chip and pin device. I told him we don't have one of those machines, then he just said thanks and ended the call. Definitely a scam.

Received several calls from this lot claiming they represent a credit card processing firm. Sounds like it's coming from some overseas call centre. Just a heads up to be cautious!

The caller didn’t say what they wanted straight away, just asked to talk to the person in charge. When I asked what it was regarding, they said something about card machines. I told them I wasn’t interested and to stop ringing, but she said she’d just keep calling regardless and then ended the call on me! So, I’ve gone and blocked the number now.
