I got a call from someone saying they could give me faster broadband with B T. I told them I wasn’t sure who they were since they just called me out of the blue and that I’d reach out to B.T. personally. They said alright but then kept talking, so I decided it wasn’t worth it and ended the call. Later, I rang B.T. myself and they said it was a scam.

Ignored the call cos I didn't know the number. Sorted a new internet deal yesterday and left BT behind. They were pretty rude to my daughter and refused to budge on price - just told her “you get what you pay for.” Switched to Sky and saved £15 every month. BT’s retention team can jog on! No doubt this was the BT Retention Team calling. It’s a proper call, and they actually matched the deal I found elsewhere when I was thinking about switching. They even emailed me the details so I can look it over properly without feeling rushed on the phone. Sure, it’s frustrating they only give the best offer when you’re about to leave, but honestly, that’s pretty normal in business. Still haven’t made up my mind about sticking with them, but I’d say this call is genuinely from BT.

A few days back, I chose to switch my BT landline over to EE since I already have my mobile with them. Even though BT owns EE, I’m paying about two-thirds less with EE for the same service! If it really was BT calling me, they seriously need to get their act together - the person asked if I was (name given), I said yes, and then they just ended the call. Somebody from BT rang me about my internet deal. I didn’t share any details about my account. We set up a time to switch to fibre optic. I looked up the number on this site and saw some warnings about scams, so I double-checked with BT. They said the caller was legit, from a number that’s one-way and not listed on their site. Later, I got an email confirming the appointment, with my reference info (which I hadn’t mentioned on the call). Got a call claiming to be BT. Told them the number didn't match any BT one I know. This is the second time, different number, same story about some other supplier trying to take over my phone line. Total scam, no doubt. Told them to forget it and that I’m not interested in any switch.

Apparently from BT, claiming to check my broadband was running fine and mentioned I seemed to be using it more. They started talking about my contract and what deals they could do (something about BT Halo for breakdown cover) but when I asked when I last changed my plan, she said 17 months ago, though it was actually under six. She sounded pretty unsure and dodgy throughout the call. My take? Almost certainly a scam, don’t share any details. STEER WELL CLEAR, like you would from Covid!

I’m thinking of switching from BT and have already given my notice to a new provider. Then I got a call from 01912614096 claiming to be from BT retention with a really good offer. I asked them to email me the details, which they promised but never did. When I rang BT customer support, they had no record of the call or the number. I reckon they might have stopped the call once I asked for an email instead of giving account info. BT said all their official numbers start with 0800, so not sure who that caller really was.

I reckon this was a legit BT call. The woman knew my name and was aware I’d switched my BT-TV plan after getting their letter about price increases and some channels possibly being cut. She even knew the exact package I moved to - only BT could have had that info.

Got a call on my mobile yesterday while I was out with a mate. I told them where I was, and they said they'd ring me back later that day. But no call came. Then this morning, at exactly 8.01, I got a text from the same number saying they’d be contacting me about some updates to my account, which suggests they’ve got my landline and mobile details. Feels dodgy to me, but I’m up for having a proper chat, so I’ve unblocked their number on my phone to give them a chance to get in touch.

I checked with BT myself and this caller really was a BT worker from Newcastle. They switched up my BT plan and put through an order, which I hadn’t noticed at first. I got a confirmation email from BT about the change. Then I called BT on 0800 800 150 to double-check and they confirmed the order too. I did mention to BT that loads of people think this might be a scam, but it definitely isn’t.

Got two calls today, 20/2/2021, didn’t pick up and no voicemail left. I’m currently switching from BT to a different provider so the ring tone seemed a bit like the ones mentioned here. Feels like it might be a scammer or someone dodgy. My answerphone says we only take calls if the caller says who they are, which these lot clearly didn’t do.

Some bloke called Lewis claiming he was from BT, said he wanted to check if he could sort a better deal by switching our provider. Asked for just 10-15 seconds and then the call suddenly dropped! Makes me wonder if there might be someone dodgy working for BT pretending to offer deals, maybe trying to get people to sign up and grab their bank info?

This morning, precisely at 8 o'clock, I received a text indicating that a call would be coming my way later in the day. When the call finally came in, the individual on the other end claimed I had terminated my BT contract, which I promptly denied. It struck me as a potential scam. I swiftly contacted BT, and after navigating through the endless loop of nuisance call options, I managed to get through to customer support. It turns out someone had informed them of my supposed cancellation! I'm left wondering how they obtained my landline number, not to mention my mobile number and name. Thankfully, BT confirmed that my contract remains intact, but I'm feeling quite unsettled about the whole affair.

They rang me, seemed quite pleasant and reasonable, about my house move, but got the date mixed up, said they’d send over an email. The email came with a PIN, then she asked me for it, I asked why she needed it if she’d just sent it to me? She then wanted my new postcode to see if I could get a better deal, I said no, so she said she’d ring back later so I could check if it was legit. She already knew an old phone number and my email. Bit wary tho, but it’s a bit stressful coz I do need to sort things with BT!

My home phone went off at about 5:50pm and I missed it, so I dialled 1471 to find out who rang me. Just like a few others here, I’m thinking of ditching BT for a different provider. They’re trying to keep me, or else they want me to pay £11 to leave, it’s a bit daft really.

Someone called claiming to be from BT offering me a contract upgrade that seemed like a great deal, which made me think it couldn’t be legit. When I asked about my account details, they kept insisting my contract finishes in June 2020 but that I could upgrade immediately! When I told them that’s wrong, they just said “oh, we’re dealing with 2021 contracts now.” Sounds like a scam to me.
