PROBABLY A SCAM OR AT LEAST AN UNWANTED CALL TO GET YOU TO RING THEM BACK. Just got a call and it was some recorded message that didn’t make much sense and felt dodgy. The message said something like "you’ve been contacted today by one of our clients, no need to worry but if you want to be taken off our mailing list, please ring 0191, Mon-Fri 9am-6pm". But if their client wanted to talk to me, why leave a recording? And why do I have to call back to be taken off a list if this is legit? Gonna block this number for sure.

Some bloke rang me speaking all "official-like," claiming he was from a courier company before suddenly switching to saying he was calling about a job I’d applied for. Nothing he said really added up. He asked me to confirm my date of birth and postcode to "update a file," then kept going on and on whenever I tried to get info about this supposed "file." Eventually, he said he could tell I wasn’t keen to continue and just hung up! This is exactly why I steer clear of these dodgy calls - they’re so bloody annoying!

Just a heads up, some of these scams use voice recognition tech and ask tricky questions to make you say stuff they can record, capturing not just what you say but how you say it, like your tone and pitch. Best to stay clear of them entirely.

Got a call from someone claiming to be the careers office, saying I need to update my CV. They asked for my birthdate, postcode, full address and even my card info to cover the cost of the update. Felt really dodgy to me.
