The phone rang, but no message was left, and I'm uncertain about who's behind the number.

I was woken up by a phone call at 01:47 in the wee hours of a Saturday night/Sunday morning on the 1st of December 2013. If it's a call from a sales hound, a debt collector or any other such nuisance, then making a ring at that ungodly hour certainly breaches the boundaries of acceptable hours, and they may well face legal consequences. Generally, these bothersome callers tend to respect the usual time frame (between 08:00 and 21:00) and rarely pester you beyond 6pm on weekends. My work mobile is redirected to my personal phone, which makes it tricky to determine if this was a business matter or a personal call. Given the timing, I can't shake off the suspicion that it was either spam or possibly some kind of international scam - perhaps a call from a time zone that is at least 7 hours ahead of GMT, finding its way through a UK exchange.

Got a call from this number just after 1am on Sunday 1st December, but no voicemail was left.

No one I know ever phones me from a landline so early like that.

Haven't bothered calling back since it's likely some dodgy foreign scam. Usually these kinds of calls are tricks to rack up huge charges if you answer. Sounds like a dodgy outfit to me.

To whoever it is... I’ll track you down, and I promise to make things very difficult for you.
