I had a rather dodgy experience recently regarding a bloke claiming to be from the energy company. He turned up pretending to check our pay-as-you-go meter, but something felt off - his ID looked rather fishy. Then, just three days later, he returned to insist he’d noted down the wrong reading! Amazingly, he came back again, and soon after we received a phone call from this number, with someone on the other end saying they were dispatching another person to read the meter. So, I decided to ring British Gas to clarify, and it turns out this is all a scam! What a right palaver!

I've found out that this number is genuine, as confirmed by our provider, British Gas. However, it seems to be associated with a rather dodgy outfit. I contacted G4S, and for some strange reason, they were quite uncooperative and even a bit menacing. It's ridiculous that they won't even provide a written confirmation of the work they're supposedly meant to do or send an appointment letter. Instead, they resort to threats of legal action. I'd strongly recommend that you get in touch with your gas or electricity supplier and let them handle it from here.
