I got a robo call claiming to be from HMRC, threatening legal trouble if I didn't ring back a certain number. When I dialled the provided number - it was a regular Milton Keynes line - some bloke answered using a voice modulator, pretending to be an HMRC official. I called him out straight away, telling him I actually worked for HMRC and he was running a typical scam. His response? “Oh crap,” then the line went dead. These kind of calls are really risky for people who don’t know better. I’ve already reported the number to the ICO.

Honestly, it's frustrating. you'd expect them to be up to something a bit more productive rather than wasting their time like this!

Got a voicemail supposedly from HMRC telling me to call them ASAP or have my lawyer ring about some payment. Total nonsense, honestly, don’t bother returning the call.

I got a call from a lady with a US accent who said her name was PC Denise Gray. She told me I’d be in big trouble with prosecution if I didn’t get back to her, claiming she was from revenues and customs. It's totally a scam and pretty scary, even though she ended it all nicely with "have a good day." I can’t imagine how many older or vulnerable folks would be really scared by this!
