SCAM - got a call about some car crash I supposedly had - a woman with an Asian accent said she was ringing from some company, but I couldn’t hear the name because there was loads of noise in the background. She kept saying it was about my accident. I asked which accident and she just said 'you know which one' and even mentioned my car’s registration number. I told her I’ve NEVER been in a car crash (honestly, touch wood) and she said sorry and tried to hang up. Told them to stop wasting folks’ time with these scam calls.

They didn’t really say who they were, just mentioned it was about some recent accident. I told them their info was wrong. The cheeky bloke kept insisting they had a file on me or something. I told him it was an unsolicited call and I'd report it for harassment. He got all rude and said, “Go on then, big man lol.” Thought he was actually gonna have a proper chat - deluded! I’ve noticed this kinda dodgy behaviour always spikes when I renew my insurance or look up quotes.

Seems like it was the Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB) ringing. I told the bloke to just keep staring at his phone while I used ‘my shiny gadget’ to make him forget about me. Didn’t quite click with him though. He’s phoned twice more since then - maybe he really can’t get me out of his mind? Got a call from this dodgy bloke while I was driving, same as what happens to loads of others - I put an ad up on Gumtree and he managed to grab my number from it. Apparently this kind of thing happens all the time and for some reason Gumtree doesn’t do anything to stop it. Best thing to do if you’ve got a smartphone is just block the number and try not to let it annoy you. Sometimes I just mess about with them, say I’ve been in an accident and give the name Mr Gumtree, which usually makes them hang up pretty quick. The perils of modern technology, eh?

I've been inundated with calls from this number - no less than six times in just the last quarter of an hour! Despite my clear message the first time, stating that my number is on the Telephone Preference Service list, they persistently chatter over me, insisting it's regarding some supposed car accident. The conversation got dull very quickly, so I quizzed him on my first name - he got it right - but when I asked for my last name, he was clueless. I told him off and ended the call. I’ve had a few similar calls, not always from this same number. The only link I can see is that I once put up an ad on Gumtree ages ago, and seems like others have had similar calls related to that site as well.

Got a call claiming I'd caused some made-up accident, when I asked what the heck they were playing at, the bloke snapped at me to "sort yourself out" - though with such a thick accent I barely caught it. When I asked him to speak proper, he just shouted something like "shove it up your bum". Proper rude and utterly pointless call.

Got a call from some Pakistani lot claiming I'd been in an accident that never happened. Told ’em off good and proper before slamming the phone down. Honestly, they deserve all the stick you can give ’em.

Got a call from this number, an Asian bloke asking if he was speaking to me by name. Didn’t give anything away, just asked who he was, and he said he was from Direct Line. I told him I’ve never dealt with Direct Line before, so there’s no point chatting, then I ended the call. From what I’m reading here, sounds like this guy is pretending to be from a firm he’s not connected to at all. Glad I’m not daft, these scammers seriously need to find proper work instead of hassling folks. Total rubbish.

Someone rang saying it was about a car crash I was supposedly in. I haven't been involved in any accidents at all.

Once I put up my ad on Gumtree, I got loads of calls from weird numbers. Looked them up here and turns out they were all harassing me! Total scammers, watch out!

Got a call about some RTA thing after someone banged into my car while it was just parked. They told me to reach out to the MIB, but not sure if that’s legit advice or just a way to rip me off more. I’m probably just gonna ignore it now.
