If you've owned one of their cars before, or even if the current owner asks for a courtesy car but VW’s records haven’t been updated with the new owner’s details yet, it’s possible you might get a call. I found this out the hard way when I got a call about a courtesy car - totally confused because I no longer had that vehicle. It was a car I sold a couple of years back, but VW’s system still had me down as the registered keeper. Apparently, the person who has it now asked for a courtesy car while theirs was being fixed, and somehow the call came through to me. After a bit of digging, it all made sense.
