Back in March 2016, I got a call from some utility firm trying to get me to change providers. Seems like they were tapping into the big news that day about folks not making the switch. When I rang them back, it just played a message saying "the number you are trying to reach can’t be found. Please verify and try again." Feels like they might have been faking the number.
