|I received a call that claimed to be from BT, sounding like an English woman, possibly automated or putting on a persona. She informed me that my broadband had been compromised and my IP address was at risk. I was urged to press key 1 on my phone to sort things out, otherwise my broadband would be disconnected within the hour. I decided to ignore the call and hung up. Strangely enough, around 30 to 40 minutes after that, my internet connection was interrupted, prompting me to reboot my router. Everything’s seemingly fine now.
It’s evident that numerous folks have encountered similar scams, yet some victims report experiencing internet disruptions afterwards. Is there a chance that these fraudsters have the ability to remotely tamper with my broadband?
