11 yearsI just received a rather peculiar phone call on my mobile, allegedly from the National Audit Office. They were trying to reach a Mr Harris, which, for the record, isn’t me or anyone in my household. When I informed the woman about the mix-up, I expected her to end the call, but she persisted. She claimed she was conducting some sort of audit aimed at reducing nuisance calls-which seems a bit ironic considering what she was doing. She then proceeded to ask for my name and address, raising my suspicions. The conversation took a twist when she mentioned that she needed my address to send me £250 in vouchers aimed at savings. I couldn’t help but question, “Why on earth would you send £250 worth of vouchers to a complete stranger?” She dodged the concern, saying it was simply to thank me for my time.
